Bday Present For My Girlfriend

sup peepz, my girlfriends birthday is comeing up (nov 1st). she will be 22 .and i was thinking of how i could out do what i did for her last year (dinner, a couple of movies that she hinted that she wanted, and a hockey game(she said she wanted to go like a year before that, cuase her and her daddy usto go). and that made her extreamly happy.

so again, i was pondering what i could do for her this year. and i relized that maybe she would like an ipod. cause she does have a lot of music on her computer, but no mp3 player. and she just has her radio in her car. so she would deffently use it.

so heres what i had in mind,

the ipod mini pink(pink is her fav color) inscriped with something like happy birthday evey (first line)love denny(second line),

the grifien itrip (so she can lisen in the car),

and a 50 doller itunes music store gift certificat.

im not sure what shipping would be but it would come to at leaste 359.93.

so lets asume that shipping wont be more than 40 bucks. so 400 bucks.

if u think i will need anything else to get her into using it, let me know.

now the only down side is that she HATES macs, she lost a term paper on a mac or some crap and she has been hate'n them ever since. so i dont know if she is gonna like using itunes. she might be turned off with it just based on the fact that apple makes them. but i doubt it. she likes my g3 ipod a lot.

ofcoarse i would still take her out to a nice restront.

but what do u guys think? u guys with girlfriends/wifes/whatever ,do me a favor and ask them too.

thanx

just in my experience, girls never seem to be as interested in the electonic toys that boys like... but everyone's different...

you're in new england, does she like skiing, or something like that... or even if she doesn't... a weekend by yourselves, like a B&B :naughty:

#201144

well, neither of us ski... i guess it would be fun to watch eathother fall on our asses(ass'es?). but your right, she isn't into computers as much as me, but she does like music as much as me, probalby more so. and she is stuck lisening to it on her crapy pc speakers, and the car radio. so i figured she would really like the ipod for that.

but thank u for your feedback :)

#201146

Everyone's different. My wife for example wanted an iPod, until I picked up an iRiver that is, but she likes gadgets 'n stuff like that.

I think the present will go well if she does like listening to music.

#201164

Can I be your girlfriend?

#201167

I'd suggest getting her a dead turbot. Then leave it on her table with a note saying "Unlike this turbot, my love for you will never die"

No, really, I dunno about getting girls gadgetry, like wookie said, they don't tend to appreciate them as much. The music store voucher seems a good start anyway.

#201174

i think she'll love it!

my girlfriend love my 3g also but becuase I'm still a student and she as well i can't afford such expensive presents.

i got us two tickets for the lion king musical

many plus points for me ;)

#201176

Hi grim,

my girlfriend for example would love to have an iPod mini in Pink but i don`t earn too much money so i can`t afford it for her!

But if she loves to listen to music an ipod is the best present !!

but in my opinion (and also in my girlfriends opinion) a very nice evening with a dinner or a boat trip at night or something like that could be also very nice !!

I miss a little bit of romanticism cause you love her, don`t you ?? ;)

#201190

what a coincidence, my girlfriends birthday is this sunday and i have been thinking about things to get her, without being too tacky

#201231

@ludge: the first one might backfire on me, but i will think about it ;)

@alilm:no ^_^

@Septimus,borkas,C@sperOSX:thanx, thats reassuring.

anyone else have any thoughts on this?

#201277

come on people, all this stuff comes up to 400, i need a lot more feed back please.

and please try to keep this semi serious.

Well grim, my girlfriend has birthday the exact same day as yours :o November 1st...

One thing i have learned.. dont give her electronics unless she has a specific love for them (rare on women)

Also, dont think of the present as a materialization of your budget, chances are you will not put the care youd want to put through by choosing stuff by what it means.

My suggestion (if you do want to get her an ipod, which, pink and all is a good idea, apple products tend to appeal to even girls ;) ) preload it with a selection of playlists...

IE...

playlist 1. Music to remember Denny

playlist 2. Music to study

playlist 3. Music to relax/chill out

playlist 4. Music to work

Playlist 5. Music to ......... (yes, the lovie dovie stuff)

Playlist 6. Music to cuddle to (oh, she will like this one)

Playlist 7. Music you both guys like equal

These are obviously some ideas to give the ipod a more personal feel to it, make her feel you know her, shell like that.

My suggestion remains though... dont make the ipod the center of the present...

Take her to a nice dinner / sky trip / stroll / bar, whatever she likes the most and then, after the meal (or before) give her the ipod and a rose.

Just some thoughts, based on my experience with a scorpion of the 1st of november ;)

Good luck man :D

#202676

wow, now thats some quality advise, i wish u had a donate seph button on your sig  .

thats a really good idea with the playlists.

and thats really wierd that both of our girlfriends were born nov 1'st. was yours 1982? thats mine.

Initially my own idea would be to go to a jazz bar/lounge type place and relax and enjoy the music. Of course there'd be dancing involved, bantering and enjoying the night is enough for a woman of that age. U really can't go wrong. but if she's hinted at a few things then look into something that she'll enjoy. I'm sure she'll also enjoy a hockey game. I hear the Patriots are going to be doing well, and well hockey is something in question til they figure out if there's a lockout or something.

I don't know about you guys but borkas has an idea there that most women will enjoy. Most women do enjoy the theatre and alot of the social culture type events. Dinner and a show is always nice, those points are a plus as well as borkas mentioned.

Seph does have a great idea as well. personalizing the ipod is a great idea too.

Whatever you do, i'm sure she'll love you for it.

#202700

wow, she loves going to playes. ill take her to a musical. it will be a theme thing. THATS SO AWOSME! thanks guys.

#202704

DAMN. That's all I have to say, Seph. Damn.

#202736

oh, oooooh!!!!

You could...

Give her the ipod... with a song playing (the theme of the musical you are taking her to) and then, ask her if she recognizes it... either way, even if she doesnt (she obviously doesnt deserve it :P ) you give her the tickets to the musical ;)

:o I have been possesed by don juan de marco :o

it might be a bit common, but women sure do love purses and shoes. you really can't go wrong with that, unless of course you get an ugly purse or tacky shoes.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

hehe, thats more complicated than you think, yes, they love shoes, but they hate them as much as they love them when they think they are ugly and that is quite a bit :(

I wouldnt dare buy shoes or a purse to a girl, that is dangerous business >.<

#202757

well then there's always sexy lingerie....

as much as I'm sure dennis would love to see his girlfriend in this (:naughty:), I don't think it will do the trick. most girls would get offended by this...granted I don't think you meant it seriously, but what the hell.

I usually try to keep my ears open...for instance valentines day (:() I gave the girl a single white rose (she said she never had gotten one) and I made a card which was pretty personalized. yea it was simple but she was floored I had remembered the rose.

I also applaud all of sephs suggestions.

candles have always worked wonders for me...candles and the beach. I tried that once...a picnic on the beach with candles. worked wonders. perhaps thats not how your girlfriend is, but if you hvae a beach nearby (wait a second you work at hammonasset I know you have a beach nearby! :6), you could take her there after the musical... something a little secluded, and yet relaxing.

let us know whatever you do, and good luck!
