[request] Winamp Avetunes
I think that there might be someone working on it already but either way I totally am in favor of a Winamp version of Avetunes. I only use iTunes so that I can take advantage of the Avetunes widgets. Can you imagine how awesome it would be to have all the skins that we have for iTunes available for Winamp as well??? Now that would be heaven on earth......................

Itunes is too heavy for my system.

I'd like to invite all of you who want for AveTunes to visit the
homepage of your player and ask for a plugin / remote developer ready
to take up with this. Perhaps you are already in a community
around a specific player and know some people there to ask?
This way, you can speed things up. Meanwhile, the skeleton app
generator promised there has reached 80%.
The idea is to code a universal remote control library which replaces
the COM API for iTunes on machines where other players are used.

reviving an ancient thread but i am wondering if anything ever came out of this? or was there ever a work-around? truth is, itunes eats up too much memory on my system 100mb+ because of my large library. kinda a big suck.

It is possible to do Winamp for avedesk using avescripter. I will be releasing an example. I haven't done it yet cause I'm doing something in the scripter that will make people SUPER Happy and I want to try to do this before christmas!

ahh, thanks. =) actually, i am not all that great with search. the wording parameters i use seems to either generate way too many threads or simply irrelevant ones.
There's a plugin for winamp that allows you to write certain information to files, such as artist of the currently played track and the song title etc. to a text file or xml. I used to do this, then get Systats to read the xml and display on the desktop.
