[help] Is Photoshop Elements Enough?

hi,

i just bought a scanner, adn with it came photoshop elements for free. i notice that alot the amazing art thats being produced is done on "photoshop", and was wondering if mine was like this one, because it seems very digita; image rather then making a new image oriented.

Yes, Elements is aimed toward perfecting an image. You can't use normal plug-ins with it. You need PhotoShop (regular) to do intermediate or expert imaging projects.

If you want, you could try the GIMP. It's free and opensource, but from what I understand, it's more complicated than PhotoShop. But it does have the same capabilities as PhotoShop, just more complicated.

www.gimp.org .. yeah, Gimp's okay, and it's got some scripting abilites PS doesn't have.. but 'tis, as Wiz said, a lot more complex 'n stuff.

i don't think it has the SAME capabilities... i tried it two days ago at friends linux box and there are MAIN features missing, like just for example the CYMK color range and so on.... on top of that it's very slow in calculating effects.

on the other side it's a great open source (!!) project and if you can't afford a photoshop license the first choice to pick (esspecially before trying to work corel draw or something even crappy)!!
