[link] A New Messaging Client Gush

Wow, I just read about this new messaging client and have been trying it out. It's pretty freakin' cool. The only thing I don't like about it, is that its like its own desktop. Check it out here http://www.2entwine.com/ . I just wanted to know what everyone thinks about this, maybe some potential gained from this app, and the pitfalls.

just from those screenshots, i'm not sure i could put up with that left to right chat style. (see screenshot 6) that would probably aggravate me.

#198969

It looks like that style isn't the only one.. this screenshot shows a more standard layout.

i stand corrected then... otherwise, i kind of liked the look of it.

i just tried this, i couldn't get the hang of the interface... it was too large and clumsy. i wouldn't recommend it.

The screenshots make the program look like an AOL browser of sorts. Everything is contained in a larger window. Was that what it was wookietv?

#199044

that is a big part of it... it's not like other im apps where you just have a buddy list... you have a newsreader, blogs... it didn't intuitively import the contacts for each protocol like other im's.

i had wished that there was a way to turn off some of the components (if there was, i didn't find it).

Haha... this client isnt that new really... I tried it out a few months ago on my quest to find a better client... But found that Gush really sucked. Firstly it's all done in Flash which means no right-click insterface and that it all has to be contained in that stupid window. Also, I have no problem with it using Jabber Transports, but last I checked it didn't support downloading of contact lists from the server... which is a real pain in the &$$.

Let me know what you guys think... I know they updated a little while back... You never know it might be good by now ;)

Cheers,

isn't something i'd used.. just by the looks of it... the virtual desktop is a nice feature but still would rather use Trillian in the sense that you can contain all im's in one window going through tabs.

#199055

yeah, the flash was a pain also... the ability to import contacts (or lack there of) was probably my biggest problem with it, though.

#199056

oh i remember this one.

i also tried id and just go with you! don't like the desktop idea.... and i really don't see what kinda advantage they think is behind this idea..

well at least this thing just looks freakin great!

just stylish!

and using jabber, i love jabber ^_^

#199143

I would recommend it either... just not my kinda interface.

#199187

Im torn, on one hand it has a very prety interface, but on the other its realy only usable if you have hardcore messaging to do, it doesnt multitask well, ie browsing the web+writing a paper+chatting.
