[release] Icadex Alpha Preview

Hey all :D,

Check out my latest project called iCadex. This app is being coded by my buddy pAntoni. iCadex is an icon manager with an integrated online icon library called pixelpushers. With icadex you can browse PixelPushers, see a set, download it, and use it.. all in one interface :). Also manage the 3000+ icons you have on your system. The online library is still under development and will be available in later builds.

Keep in mind that this is an early build... png support and many other features have not yet been added... as the project progresses i will tell you more information on what features will be in the app.

iCadex Troubleshooting Guide

For everybody having problems with iCadex, here's a small guide how to get it running:

  • Extract iCadex
  • Run ResetLibrary.exe
  • That's it :P

If it still doesn't work check...

  • if the skin directory exists and contains all files incl. a skin.ini per skin
  • if the options.ini exist
  • if the library folder and it's subfolders 'personal' and 'pixelpushers' exist
  • if the MyPath & PxPath values in the options.ini...
    - lead to an existing directory
    - end with an backslash '\'

An optional way is to set the MyPath & PxPath values to any personal folder like C:\ (don't forget that '\' !).

If it still doesn't work I can't help you. ;)

Just an information: iCadex is coded in Delphi 6 so don't worry about any Frameworks.

If you got iCadex running and don't know how to use it, here's another small guide for you:

How iCadex works:

  • it displays a list of all folders in the PixelPushers and Personal folders (the Icon Librarys)
  • When you click on a Icon Library it shows the icos of the folder (Currently it also shows Dirs & Zips)
  • When you select an icon, it shows a 128x182 preview
  • You can add and delete Icon Libs by pressing the + & - buttons
  • You can add icons to an existing IconLib by dragging them into the browsing window

WARNING!:

If you press [-] (delete) iCadex will delete all the icons and other contents of the selected IconLib!

iCadex DOESN'T move them into the recycle bin!

fantastic, cant wait for a final. It would be realy cool if you could build .ICL files for use with iconpackager, so it actualy does soemthing productive.
