[help] In Pursuit For A Video Player

I have used every video player out there and can't find one that I truely like. I used Zoom Player for a while but then it would freeze and take literally ten minutes before Windows actually ended the application. I tried VLC but didn't really end up liking that program either. Could anyone share a good video playing application?

Well other than the fact that it doesn't support skinning, WMP 6.4 is the best/most responsive player. You could also try Media Player Classic, just google it.

I use power DVD. It is the best player for DVD's that I know of.

As for other stuff...VLC is OK, but I mostly use the newest WMP.

what about bsplayer?

media player classic is good because it supports play back of r.v. and q.t. files. (if those formats are important to you, then go here and here to get the real video alternative and quicktime alternative. they install the respective codecs without having the bloat of those applications taking over your system)

but like juno, i just use wmp and powerdvd...

Topic Moved.

What about putting your threads in the appropriate forums? That's always a good way of finding a good media player.

This belongs in Windows Software.

i could never get vlc configured properly to play well in windows, though some people seem to live and die by it. but it's absolutely my default player on os x.

anyway, with all the codecs downloaded and good to go, WMP9 (unskinned) was always the best for me. i liked 6.4 when i was on 98/ME, but why avoid version 9? starts up fast enough, is very stable, and has codec compatibility with so many formats. i'm with juno on this one.

less than 130kb in size, no installation (standalone exe), fast, free.

i also use media player classic.
