[preview] Lutetium

May I suggest an Icons folder for the poor people with thousands of icons and no good looking folder for them?

Oooo... a dock folder would be cool too!

Great idea, icons-folder will be in first release - I'll see about a dock one later. ;)

You know what I think....I sure can't wait to see more previews like this one :) see you in Zillaland :D :woot: (thank god you added a "girls" icon hahaha)

Awesome!!!

Eep, okay I'm stuck.. Can people suggets what type of Trash can they'd like. Ideas/objects have to be "slim" tall wise (which is why a trash-can wouldn't work) - because of the angle the "item" would need to be sized down and would probably only take up 40-50% width..

I appreciate any thoughts.

A paper shredder? A side head on view. And then full you could have a couple of strips hanging out of the top. Well, that's my idea for now.

#198091

How about a needle with and without blood. or have like red blood. and then the plasma seperated...something to do with blood would be adam1975.gif imo

Wizard, stop feasting on my brain at night. :6 I had the same idea, by I don't seem to be able to sketch it right.. I'll have another go tonight, but Paper Shredder is currently top idea. :naughty:

Thank Moo (Mubach) for the inspiration, which had nothing to do with spheres, but I was thinking about the whole angle problem when it hit me. So I went to work like a beaver and after only two hours (compared to the 4-6hrs on the HDD icons..) I got it nearly done, but it took another hour of fixing various things. Now I'm happy with it, but probably expect tweaks by final release.

Trash will be available in four colours, in final release: Regular (blue), Red, Purple and Green. If you would like a variation please ask and I'll work on them once more important stuff is done.

Hope you like. :)

/mubach holds on to ball (s?)

Mmmm, I can almost smell the Hugo Boss. Brilliant icons Es, as always you continue to push the boundries of what trash (icons :lol: ) should be. /will wait for the 40w variation which I am requesting now... :woot:

#198221

Hehehe, good Job dude :D

But one question... how would the empty/full states of that trash icon look? :blink:

Kinda puzzling :P

#198335

just adding my admiration to ur work :)

@Seph; From ze catalog;

“The LuTrash has the remarkable next-gen A.I. that actually detects how many trashed files your computer contains. Once it reaches an unstable level it automatically informs you via it's front-born light, which can be altered to suit your mood.

Once the trash has been emptied, the bright front sided light dulls down back down to it's off state, ready for the next time you are required to permanently erase files.”

;)

@Unbeliever; Cheers. :)

I had never seen so much Sci-Fi on a trash icon....

Tha'scool :P

/muu uses his ipod's metalic surface to predict the future and reply on a preview not yet forseen by others.

Very nice addition to Lu though i can't seem to be able to see the serial numba'...., a very photorealistic CD, has my seal of approval...keep up the good work my good sir.

Ze shiny optical disc.. One of the quickest of the lot, basic stuff took about 40 minutes, neatening and adding various "final" details took a futher 30 mins.. I'm uploading a movie of me doing the basic stuff (40 minutes long), I'll post the link when it's done.. It's only 30mbs. ;)

@Moo; Git. :6 :lol:

Just a note before people remark on the angle; Yes it's not the same, but it's similar. I decided before doing it I wanted a different angle for the CD, in sketches it looks very naff at the same angle, (plus wouldn't use a lot of vertical space as I'd like). So I went with a near "flat" angle a lá the OS X one.

#199034

I say no to any angles!! (HDD drives included :P)

That is prolly the most realistic replica of a cd i have EVER seen. I am not kidding.

You know what'd be cool? different color versions of the data side, you know what i mean?

Thank you Seph. :) That is such a simple thing.. Expect 4-5 different colourings of the discs once I've finished the "named" ones (such as DVD-R, DVD-RW etc).

I updated the teaser and changed the rectangle to a dark grey, to show off the plastic (I didn't want people to assume it was just white) - which I spent quite a while to get looking as I wanted.

Bloody hell es, that icon is amazing! can't wait to be using that on ma desktop :rolleyes:

#199045

Just to keep people in the know; 1) The DVD and CD icons are both done with the DVD and Compact Disc logos respectfully (the blank/default one has none). 2) All three optical disc items now come in three flavours; Regular, Spring (more green) and Amber (more orange-y). Other colours looked daft, and I rather like the change to the rainbow-hues on the Amber version. ;)

I'll see about doing the filetype icon done tomorrow, so I can start work on doing all the variations for that..

Total Icons so far: 26

Edit: Forgot to mention; if any OS X people know of an app that will let me drag-drop PNGs to create ICNS files and that will let me do each size (ie; Do specific PNGs for 32px and 16px) I'd be very grateful. I used to have one that was freeware, but I don't remember the name..

Edit: Okay I'm using Icon Machine now to do my icon-fying from PNGs, meaning 32px and 16px states (Pic2Icon does a horrible job on 32px states..). It'd be great if a few people donated enough for me to buy Pixadex so I can convert the OS X straight to ICO files that are full (128x128) size, and keep all the 32px and 16px states - so it's a direct "port" of the OS X version. I should have enough spare in a few weeks to buy CandyBar, so I can make a container for Mac OS X users (so it changes all the icons on the system at once)..

:)

Looking spiffingly well! I am certainly awaiting the 1st! :w00t:

iconverter isn't drag and drop, but it'll handle PNG to ICNS no problem, and batch convert, too.

I was telling esXXI that he should make an apple script or get it to do batch convert since it would save him a large amount of time which could be better used to make even more icons :P I don't know the specifics, since I dont have a mac and use winnie instead :cry: So if anyone has any links/tutorials/info on batch convert or apple scripts in reference to converting pngs to icons, please PM me.

#199538

Wow, those icons look absolutely delightful.... You're my personal hero now, esXXI (Y)

The icons are really "seXXI" :canadian:
