[request] Application Setup Package Creator

alo,

was wondering if someone knew where to find something like this

do you know when you buy a computer magazine, it comes with a cd filled with applications... it autostarts and brings you to a menu of all of the programs you can install. basically, that's what i'm looking for, a menu creater so i can put my most commonly used setup applications onto a cd... would like (but not necessary) to have it be able to span a few cd's, that way it can show the full menu at first, but then have it say something like "enter cd #3 to install suchandsuch application"

thanks for any input

i saw that thread, but that's not quite what i had in mind... maybe this screenshot would help picture what i was looking for

it's the closest i've found, but not quite. it should give an idea, though. just click on the application to install and then press the install button. it would then ask for the appropriate volume of the CD it's linked to and open up the setup file for that app.

Since its Windows we were talking, a HTML page can be launched using autorun.inf.

Use e.g. Excel to convert tabular setup data into HTML Tables.

From there on, its up to your skills. If you can assume that at least Internet

Explorer 4 is installed - where not, then you can easily mock up some DHTML

apps with menus, motion blurs, and so on.

Some of the 'zines launch a customized web browser that runs off CD without

install and direct that to a index.html on the CD...

hth,
