[request] Even More Skins For Avetunes

After having seen the shiny, transparent and glossy skins,

I'd like to see more skins like these for the AveTunes widget for AveDesk:

- Antique 18th century instrument (microscope / naval)

all brass, wood leather, perhaps stained and wormholes.

- 50es tube radio / TV or Jukebox

as streamlined as a T-Bird with all Bakelite knobs on it

- (Transparent) 80es/90es grafitti sprayed on a brick wall

- Smashed 70es japanese radio / casette player showing its resistors

hanging outta its case or 70es AKAI 4 track consumer tape.

- 60es Beatles Yellow Submarine skin

- Monthy Python Flying Circus skin

- Borg cube skin

- Simpsons / Futurama / South Park / Your favorite animation skin

- Pablo Picasso / abstract art skin

- Viva Che / Legalize it / Bob Marley / 80es punk'd / 80es Ghettoblaster skin

- Far east Han Dynasty Porcelain skin

- A Kitsch skin your granma would be too young for

Sarcasm? - Really!

Everyone seems really fired up about the release of AveDesk 1.1 - and although there seems to be alot of 'certain' applications receiving more attention than others - I think its all good for the community to have the posibility to choose our own skins to suit our vs.

I tend to do sarcasm a lot, but this time I'm not.

(OK, the last two in the list won't enter my desktop either)

I just wanted to make a point that skins that work need not be

all shiny chromy gleamy (...).

What could you achieve with skins?

- Looking better than iTunes mini mode?

- More usable?

- More personal? Get an 'Elvis Lives' sticker on your desktop?

In real life, tools I like most get a patina through frequent usage.

So why not on the desktop?

They won't look 'sick' - I guess foxor meant 'slick'.

Ok herd, I hear ya. Makes sense to me. I think a lot of people like the shiney new look. It reminds them of that first moment when you unwrap that iPod package [or any funky electronics] and you smell that new smell, you see a totally spotless shiney back ... then after awhile you start to notice scratches and think "damn, how'd THAT get there?!" ... but it DOES pass usually, we realize that the things we actually USE get that look to them.

Personally, I LOVE the Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy ... hmmm ... actually, that gives me an idea. Although, I'd be afraid FOX would come down on me like Apple on Y.....ahem. Maybe I'll keep it to myself ;-)

Can I ask for Thunderbird sync then?

I'm all for pure Aqua but these widgets need to be usefull as well. Denying users outlook integration because it doesn't happen on the Mac is a bit extreme.

DD, I appreciate that you use Tbird, but the developer of this desklet is using Jib's address book for the database.

If someone wants it to support another app, they'll have to make it themselves.
