Well, I have been working on a winamp skin of dashboard myself, but its not turning out so well. However, I have found a script on the Winamp forums that switched the play and pause buttons. It was dated, so I updated it a little. If you want it I can email you the work I have done, and it has those scripts and stuff. Whatever, it is up to you.

PS, how do you smooth the edges of the background? I am using duckie's dashboard files currently, and they look smooth, but when I use the skin the edges get really rough looking.

In the player or in the skin? I have It enabled in winamp, but is there a seperate option when actually making the skin? I used Duckie's files, and they looked smooth in Photoshop.

For the EQ, has anyone seen this widget by _Martiin_ for a nice way of implementing it. I realise the colouring is different, but its something to work from.

Okay...................Septimus we gotta talk b/c all I know is that screenie is the SICKEST looking skin/media player widget that I've seen anywhere! Whoever is responsible for that thing might just as well open up that pay pal account and let me in b/c I will pay dearly for something that looks like that......bank account, routing numbers...........let's get the show on the road! It's a free widget for DesktopX2 by _Martin_ over at Wincustomize. A good guy so I'm sure permissions for conversion wouldn't be hard at all. Plus they like AveDesk a lot over there

You need DX2 installed but it doesn't have to be running to use it. A DXPack is also available.

I use it as my iTunes remote (when I use iTunes that is) as it supports a lot more than AveDesk's Plugin can currently do, but I'm sure it will get there.

Yeah thanks a lot Septimus for the help on that beauty! So now I guess I'm a little confused but did you say that you're using that skin/config with iTunes for DesktopX or iTunes for Avedesk??? I'm jealous and wonder if it's even a possibility that I'll ever have that thing on my desktop.........so you say DesktopX may be what I have to install in order to enjoy this huh.................

@natedogg : lol natedogg, I am not spakeing about the Desktop X widget, I speak about the winamp Dashborad skin, I don't think that anyone work on this widegt for AveDesk, sorry, anyway - ask for it in the Ave App forum maybe someone could do it, it's hard to convert it from Desktop X widget to AveDesk, sorry again.

For the widget I posted natedogg you need DesktopX2. Sorry.

AveTunes could probably support a similar skin without the Equalizer but as castroman said, it's not easy to convert.

I'd like to know how this Winamp skin is going also, it has a lot of promise.

That's alright guys..........I get what I deserve for running around this site like a chicken with my head cut off. So let me get this straight though........okay so I don't use DesktopX 9 (although I'm now seriously considering installing it simply so I can get this skin) but Septimus you make mention of something pertaining to this skin being done also for Winamp itself??? That's my preferred media player so if that is so then I'm still in the running.......LOL

I actually have a very rudimentary skin made up and working...

are you planning to skin the PLE and various other windows? I left mine as the default, since i almost never use them.

In terms of minimalism, I went the route of leaving off all the buttons that I didn't need - for most things the context menu is quite sufficient b/c you generally turn on/off things like crossfade, shuffle, and varia only once or twice a session.

so my player is missing a:

stop button

volume control

balance control

bass/treble

eject/load file

lots of others

the only buttons I have are play/pause, next, prev, and two hidden mouseovers on the circle part of the controller - one for PL, one for ML

so, maybe you wouldn't consider that especially functional... But I don't find it a bear at all.

if people need this skin for their personal sanity until cro-x finishes his, i can provide.
