[question] Tiger Widgets

In the keynote about Tiger, Steve-o said the widgets were controlled by simple JavaScript, if this is true, couldn't the JavaScript used in the current ones in the beta build of Tiger be used to create Desklets in AveDesk quicker and more painless. :D

That would be a key goal for my Scriptable Multimeter beta 4, which is about

two months in the future. However, the scripts will need translation since

the widgets are in HTML and the MM beta 4 understands XML only. Also, some

language extensions not available in the MS variety of JScript prevent loading them

in an IE frame (loads of syntax errors) so unless someone writes a completely

new browser control and script engine, its very unlikely that these things go

unstranslated. Finally, there is no AppleScript in Windows, so e.g. iTunes

controller calls must be mapped to the iTunes 4.5 ff. COM API.

I must confess I'm short of giving up MM entirely and shifting its code into

AveDesk, but that would break availability of MM themes in ObjectDock and

YZDock, so I'd keep it separate from AveDesk but more tightly integrated.

I don't think there are MM Themes to come that will only run in AveDesk,

but they might look ugly in ObjectDock and YZDock.

well - we just need a kind of Dock-Desklet -> no need for OD or Yz

possible?

(not (yet) thinking of the features of ODplus)
