[help] File Recovery

Once again I require the collective genius that is the aqua community. I was fiddling around with the new AveDesk yesterday, and in doing so (I forget exactly how) I deleted all of my wallpapers and images (my 'My Pictures' folder). I've been working for hours trying to get it back, but every file recovery program I've found is some lame trial version that only lets you restore 2 files, or files under a certain size, etc. I found a freeware one called PC Inspector File Recovery, but it won't work. (it gives me an error message every time I try to select my drive.) Any help you can provide is very appreciated.

I had a similar problem sometime ago. I found a good

software that restored many files I loose.

Now I am at office and this software is on pc at home.

In few hours I'll let you know which is this software that worked

for me.

It's important that you do not write data on hard drive that could overwrite

the "loose" sectors.

Check out this thread of mine. I tlak about a program that actually got all my files back from an HDD crash. The thing is it also finds files on Floppies wqhen they have been formated, it might be of help.

seph: i think the program referenced to you is the same one i tried (pc inspector something 3.0). it's the one that gives me an error every time i try to load my drive. the more time passes, the more i worry that i won't be able to get this stuff back.. the folder also had all the pictures taken from various digital cameras over the years...

Oh, sh¡t man, im sorry about it. Keep on trying though...

WookieTV gave me the link to that program and i had no problem with it (except for a veeeeeery large folder which gave me such error, my solution was do smal folder by small folder)

Finally I'm home.

The software I found is FILE RECOVERY PROFESSIONAL 3.2

Google it, you'll find immediately. It's multilanguage.

In its "trial version" it shows which files it has found and is able to

recover. Try it, for me it was successful.

yeah, it's actually not the same, but the trial version has limits that prevent me from restoring my files. i dunno if this is a lost cause at this point, because i've been writing to the drive in my quest to restore the files. i'll keep searching for more utilities, and of course anything you all can provide is much appreciated.

Well, it would appear that my own rush to get my files back caused them to be lost forever, for the most part. Of probably a GB or two of files, I have 72 MB. And most of those files are only partially there and unrecoverable. Thanks for the help anyway, guys. I guess something is better than nothing.
