Aqua-Soft ForumsI thought this was posted before, but I guess not because I can't find it. Anyway, can someone with a Mac tell me if this is true? Does the background of your desktop change automatically, fading into one background to another while you work? I thought I saw it the other day in a store, but couldn't believe my eyes. It was awesome. Is there any way of emulating this on WindowsXP?
Auto Background Changer?
Yea!! It´s an option on a mac that makes the bk change, but its not fading!! there was someone that posted a prog here for winxp (before the forum chrashed) that had that option!!
I was under the impression that it was simply a screensaver, not a wallpaper-fader-changer-thingamabob.
Guys, it IS an option built into OS X, and it DOES fade one wall into the next. I have played with it many times. It is not a third party app. And I have yet to see a wallpaper changing prog for windows that does the fade thing.

I know it´s built in, I have a mac, and it´s not fading,Maby it´s becouse I have change every 5sec.?? I have used it just one time !! I ment it was someone that posted a post with a prog for winxp that does this!!
Well, I've seen it fade when set to 'every 5 seconds' and 'every 1 minute' so I'm not sure why it doesn't fade for you.

It's definitely fading from one background to another ON THE DESKTOP WHILE WINDOW'S ARE OPEN!! Amazing "iCandy" (sorry for the pun). It is very smooth and with similar backgrounds like Abstracts, it is very subtle. There's got to be something like this for WinXP. If not, someone needs to make it happen. I'd do it, but I'm not a programmer.

!! I got a iMac 500MHz PowerPC G3 with OS X 10,2,4 - 384 MB memory ..... And it´s not fading over at my mac!!??
magbi9, what video card do you have? Because it could be something that requires Quartz Extreme to work, not just Quartz.

You can use the Nostalgic screen saver, it's very much like the MAC fading screen saver.
And use vital desktop to use a screen saver as a BG.
I tried it but it's not good because you loose transparency on the icons but you're welcome to try it.

the closesd thing to re-create what you see on the Mac is to use screenpaper and the Nostalgic screensaver together.
Screenpaper uses regular screensavers and puts them behind the taskbar. Unfortunatly, I guess like Virtual Desktop, you can't use your desktop icons, but it will let you run apps. It's pretty neat, I use it myself.
Style XP by TGTSoft will rotate your background but not fade it and in fact wont rotate your background unless its "At Logon", "Daily", or "Weekly". You have no minute length option, and when it does change the background it takes a very long time, its a very nasty transition. I used to have this option on to rotate my Aqua Wallpapers at logon, but it just looks so nasty when the screen turns black and white and shows that dumb WindowsXP "Please Wait" box. It would ruin my whole Aqua Scheme!
The program that can do this on windows (warning: good gfx card needed) is called DREMPELS. Google it. 
This will animate wallpapers like that as your bg.
Drempels would be great if it didn't 'animate' the wallpapers. It does have the fade option, but having them move, rotate and zoom is just annoying. I just hope they make a new version that lets you turn animation off.

Actually, the best combination for the most realistic Mac CoolBackgrounds look is to use these 3 apps
1. Vital Desktop - Lets you use any screensaver & it's stable
2. Nostalgic Screensaver - used in conjuction with the real screensaver pictures on the macintosh, emulates the zooming in/out, panning and dissolving of Mac's screensaver (set as low priority)
3 Stardock's DesktopX - used to create clean alpha-channel desktop icons (make sure the objects use normal z-ordering) & other stuff that also emulates Konfabulator.
