Objectdock 0.88 Bugs

I have two great inconveniences about this version of OD.

I think is better to have a 'Quit OD' button in the configuration panel instead of Quit option of the configuration icon.

Is verry dificult to save my theme. Everytime when I start my system, OD is started with its default theme and in every day I must reconfigure all my icons, backgrounds, etc.

I saw in a screenshot a window in there is possible to save/load OD themes, but I can not find it. Is possible, or is only a part of future OD wishlist?

After you add all your icons and set your config the way you want it, make SURE that you close Object Dock through the menu and re-start it. I think OD has a small bug where it won't save the config unless it is closed through the File menu (i.e. if you reboot your system without first turning off the dock).

I don't know if someone else has experimented this, but when I open a .pdf file with Acrobat and maximize its window, the dock doesn't pop up. On the other hand, the dock works as expected when said window is not maximized.

Thanks for your answer. After two or three modifications I close OD, then I restarted. All is OK. If I restart Windows, the theme is OK. In the next day, When I start my computer, the bug appears again. Exemple: normal icon size = 0; zoomed icon size = 0; background transparency = 100%; dock position = top of the screen (i put it normally - at the bottom). Now, I found a way to fix this. I make a copy of 'current theme.ini' in another folder and in every day, I will overwrite the file in the OD folder with the saved one. That's all.

Hi there,

I find it quite disappointing that even though we talk OD V0.88, the following bug is still not fixed: whenever I close Outlook (2002), OD crashes.

In addition, some system commands stop working all of a sudden, and sometimes the dock disappears to the lowest Z-level possible even though "stay on top" was selected in the settings.

If I can voice my personal opinion here: why improving all the cosmetic stuff around OD before some underlying bugs remain unfixed?

For clarification: I highly appreciate the work done on OD, and I give all the people involved the highest credit! I am just a bit frustrated, because today I had to stop using OD due to the bugs mentioned above.

I hear ya...I finally switched to Yz dock for the Outlook bug and having it crash when my automatic PopUp killer kills some IE windows.

Quit with the eye-candy and fix the plumbing.

I too will say that I appreciate all the hard work the dock programmers have put into their products (that we are getting to use for free).

is it just me or does OD stop working every once in a while. some times I can click an icon 20 times and it wont start the designated linkthis can be quite annoying!

the one thing that bugs me is when you have an icon bouncing and you move your mouse of it, it speeds up.. or if you have an icon bouncing.. move your mouse over other icons and it mags up it speeds up to the motion of your mouse... and sometimes the icons jidder

but its pretty good release.. spped and memory usage is very good in this release

I think this version is UNFORTUNATELY the worst version of OD I have seen. The problem with saving of the current theme remains (interesting, none of you reclame this problem). Every day when I start my computer, I must overwrite the file 'currenttheme.ini' from the folder when I saved in the OD current folder. The 'settings icon' can switched to: Dock settings, quit objectdock and do nothing I don't feel the best method. I think the 'Quit Objectdock' button in the OD settings window is better. Unfortunately, I want to move back to OD 0.86 (it's more stable) but surprise!!! 'this version is expired, check and download the newest version'. I wait unpatiently the new version that I hope to solve these bugs.

To get this to work reliably you need to put the link to explorer.exe and in the argument box put the ;;{numbers} stuff. I'm stating this from memory...there used to be a message thread about this, but it might have disappeared the last time the forums crashed.

i know what you're saying and i AM using them for My Computer & My Documents...

i'm thinking that's the reason why they would sometimes work more than any other folder links...

i'm sure jeff's gonna address this sooner or later... i'm not all that annoyed by it...

i've been switching around the 3 docks and i have to say that right now OD is best performancewise:

-low resource usage

-smooth animations

-multiple options for performance tweaking

Sorry,

Some of my criticism was because of my human errors.

I'll be must excluded ObjectDock from ObjectBar menu hidding (the configuration panel of OD not appears in OB menu, nor in the OD panel (I did not the OD 0.88 config panel have a menu).

The posibility of save/package the theme is only in a menu, so if I had the menu not apppeared, I didn't know about it.

Please, all of you that use OB, notify this.

I got some bug with OD v.088, when some window is maximized the ObjectDock doesn't appear. I use

Autohiding feature and Always-On-Top setting. On erlier version of OD this bug doesn't exist.
