One of my friends got ths soundtrack to the musical Avenue Q. I have to say that some of the songs are funny as hell. It is essentially a parody of Sesame Street with the plot about a man graduating from college and finding a place in life. It has won 3 Tony's (for those of you who don't know, Oscars equivalent of Theatre) including best Musical or Play.
At times, I find myself wondering "How the hell did this get a Tony?" It is nothing that you could imagine being so praised. One song is titled "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" and yeah, you know what that song is about. And then there is "My Girlfriend, Who Lives in Canada" and the guy talks about how good his "girlfriend" is at sexual stuff. Then there is "The Internet is for Porn" and then a song with it's characters are too similar to Bert and Ernie and one of them is denying being gay (OMG, gayness!). That's only a few of them.
This is so funny. If you have an open mind, I seriously recommend the soundtrack. Heck, go see the musical on Broadway. I want to, but I can't at the moment, and my trip would revolve around going to see this musical.
Also, if anyone has seen the musical, how is it?
