The application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix this problem

:( i get that error on start

#192706

Works fine for me... very promising! A quick question: when I activate Expire to 'organize' my running windows, should the background be blue? The app would seem more professional if I could still see my desktop while the windows moved around... but other than that, very nice, very smooth animations. Good work. :D

Looking nice!

I get a similar problem.

Failed to create the Direct3D Device! Check your Direct3D settings.

Looks like it's coded to video cards that can support Direct3D with Expires' custom settings.

#192713

When I start the program it says that it "'Failed to create the Direct3d Device! Expire is switching to default DirectX values. Check your Direct3D settings!'" on my card.

My card is a GeForce2MX400 and it worked with the previous expire beta with the same drivers I am using now.

works on my other computer, very nice (Y)

but the shortcut keys dont work

"Failed to create the Direct3d Device! Expire is switching to default DirectX values. Check your Direct3D settings!"

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I get that message as well. When I click "OK" there, I get
Failed to create the Direct3D Device with default settings!  Maybe you card is not supporting the DirectX settings. Exiting now.
and it quits.

I ran dxdiag and did the video tests, they all worked. Running DirectX 9.0b

Using "Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller" (onboard) -- this is a dell computer at work.

#192718

Yes I get the second message too.

#192721

Ditto here as well... ran all the DXDiags stuff.

Results:

No problems found.

DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful.

Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were successful.

Direct3D 8 test results: All tests were successful.

Direct3D 9 test results: All tests were successful.

by all accounts, it should be working.

Oh well... it is a beta after all.

Ok I fixed my problem, what I did was go to "animations" from the systray icon and pick something. =p

#192738

 All it does is close the app whenever i click a corner of my screen or press F2 F3 or F5...

#192740

FlareX that's also what mine did until I did what I said above. You have to open it and go to the systray icon, right click, pick animations and pick something for ordering and soemething for animation.

#192742

That was the first thing i did... :( It still closes...

How did this fix the problem?

Once the error message pops, the systray icon is useless and the app terminates.

#192745

He restarted the application and then selected sys tray icon and chose an animation?

#192746

The first thing I did after loading the program was to press F9. That only causes it to "encounter a problem" and then terminate.

I then ran it again and checked the options only to discover that F9 shouldn't do anything. Otherwise, the app works well enough on my Ti4400. I can only turn on 1x Antialiasing though. (Looking at my Graphics Card settings, it looks as if I should be able to do at most 4x.)

#192766

this is brilliant :)

and i haven't got any errors ;) yet...

#192778

*faints*

This is really amazing... the movement is soooo smooth... so fast... soo coooool...

I got the above mentioned error... but i just entere thew ANIMATION menu, change the animation and everything went fine. I even get back to the default animation and everything was ok.

I get the errors, but then the app terminates.

There is no chance to select the tray icon as it won't respond when the error messages are there.

And once you hit OK on the error dialogs, your done and so is the app.

Restarting it is useless.

Same thing over and over.

 OMFG!!

wild..... it works just fine on my rig... this is developing VERY nicely...

Cheers

you're probably pressing the wrong shortcut keys ... you're probably thinking F9 etc. ... if you right click the systray and click on "settings" or if you open up the config xml file you'll see that the default shortcut keys are set to F2, F3, and F5 ... you can customize this however.

For me, i still get the same error message as with beta 1 when i press the shortcut keys or when i move to the corners:

expire.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.
