[help] I Would Like To Skin Aim (os X)

Although most people loathe AIM, I like it. I use both iChat and AIM at the same time, and AIM just needs a makeover as far as I am concerned. I saw countless iTunes Skins at resexcellence, and I saw plenty of skins for all sorts of applications here, so I figured I would ask for some help.

I want to make a sort of brushed metal interface, make some of my own icons, and remove the ad at the top of the buddy list.

I know how to get to the AIM/Contents/Resources folder and what not, but from there, I don't know what I should be looking at to edit. I was just wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction. I think I would have to edit "Common Resources", but what do I need to change?

I am sorry for being so clueless, but I have a lot of time to kill right now, and this is something I have been aching to do for awhile.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, so I took a little time to make a mockup. Here is what I had in mind...

I tried ThemePark to open the .rsrc files, and it did not work. I tried Resource exploder, and it worked okay, I can edit the little icons within AIM, but I cannot access the aqua interface. Supposedly you can skin a single application with ThemePark, but I don't see how I can since it doesn't read anything from the AIM resources folder.

Anyone? Anyone?
