Aqua-Soft ForumsI see everyone elses Desktops, and they have MAD AA, what is the best way to get mine like that. I have done the cleartype tweak at microsoft.com/typograhpy, and it still isnt right.
Anti-aliasing
Well, you can get CLEARER TYPE, a program that lets you set the contrast to the exact #. I forget the URL, google. Other than that, there was a huge thread on this, and Clear type is the best out there for Windows. the "MAD AA" you see is probobly on people's (if you can call them that 
) macs.
You know, some people don't like the "MAD AA" cause it makes most fonts always look bold even when they are not and to some people it looks too fuzzy. I guess it comes down to taste no matter what some people here might say. And the person talking has typography as their major.
I'm just stating above what I have heard others say though that's not my opinion.
I myself think it looks good (OSX antialiasing). And cleartype after tweaking is much better than nothing at all or how the fonts where in win2k or lower which look real bad to me now.
Oh yeah BTW, the thing is not all fonts in XP get cleartyped. Especially small ones or ones that are in gimp which are freetype.
I read somewhere though about someone modifying their fonts so that they would get antialiased when smaller but not sure where that was, it was in the comments of some faked longhorn shots.
I was already have clearer type also, and that helped a lot. But it still isnt as nice as some other peoples. Like if you go to aquaxp.com, and click on the desktop of the week, he has really good AA, and it puts mine to shame. Actually, mine is fine everywhere, but in Objectbar... wierd.
The AA isnt that good in the screenshot. Its as good as mine. Most of that stuff is either from the website or its bolded.
I don't know if it's my imagination or what but the antialasing (cleartype) looks better in action (at least a little) than in a screenshot.
the easiest way to compare the AA of window's font and mac's font is by looking at the icon's font in explorer window. when you make it normal font, it will looks too thin, and if you make it bold, the font become really weird, like you see in the screenshot. I think the good font is like the font you see in the toolbar of explorer.
