[help] Choosing A Motherboard

I'm working on building my own computer.. but I need some help.

I've chosen a processor.. well I've narrowed it down to two.. but I don't know what motherboard to choose

The two processors I have in mind are:

- Intel Pentium 4 3.2e GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper-threading

I don't know much about motherboards.. so i wanted some help.

I've heard that ASUS motherboards are pretty good and I found one ($100) the P4S800D-E.. are there any other motherboards similar to this one but cheaper?

Is the chipset of the mother board important or will any chipset work?

Ok first dont get a prescot P4E, get a northwood P4C, there just as fast, if not faster, run cooler, use much less power, overclock MUCH better, and typicaly cost only a few dollars more then a P4E of the same speed. Absolutly no reason to get a prescot.

Also give us a price for a motherboard. Rember you get what you pay for. And IMHO better to spend less and get a little slower CPU then to skimp on the motherboard. A cheap motherboard can make your computing experince miserable, but youll hardly notice a little slower CPU.

Any chipset should work (supporting the buss speed of corse), but some chipsets are faster, or more featurerich then others. Stick with an intel chipset.

My recomendations:

ASUS "P4P800-E Deluxe"

Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0C GHz 800MHz FSB

Trust me on the CPU
