Hey Hey! I'm back from holiday! Anyway, now that I'm back I'm trying to replace the uxtheme.dll so I can use the themes; problem is, it just ain't working for me. I've tried at least 8 different "Uxtheme.dll Patcher" programs of varying names, and I've just tried doing it manually using the instructions in this topic. But still, when I reboot the themes just don't work. I click on the theme file and it just brings up the VS Properties box, showing the default Luna theme. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I've had a good look around all the Xp settings to see if there's something there that could be stopping it from working; I've been having a similiar problem trying to apply Stefanka's System Files - could the two problems be related?

Same problem here. I restarted in Safe Mode, Opened up the task manager and closed explorer. Then through the "file/run" Menu's I selected the patcher .exe file. Ran it. Restarted. TADA!
Hope that was helpful.
Yes Wookie, I am in SP1. Should have mentioned that in my original post >_<
Anyway, that sounds like it could work, chinchilla. One small question; how do I start-up in Safe mode? I've been looking around for ages on how to do that and I've never seen a way to do it. >.<

F8 before boot screen.
Ah, I see. So this will work, no matter what computer I have? Is it any different in XP Home Edition?

Better try to find out. ![]()
OK, this is weird. I pressed F8 as you told me to do. But nothing happened. it just continues starting up normally.

Maybe, you did it too late?...
Sometimes it's hard to catch this moment (before boot screen).

When you're booting, just keep tapping F8 from the moment you pass the BIOS POST screen. You'll get there. ![]()
