Read the domain name, MacRumors. People were also saying that they would have been released at the previous Mac conference.

Agreed, but do read the article "confirmed source"
I'm happy with my iPod.

This guy was so on its not even funny. All i really got to say is he OWNED everyone who voted against him.
:6
THE new ipods gen 4 kinda suck from wut our expectations were its a major let down, especialy since apple usualy sends out great New products. So i was wondering is there going to be a new ipod gen5 because i keep hearing yes no yes no yes no yes so i just want to c if its tru or not once and for all!
Yes, they're going to release a new version of the iPod in a month
Seriously, do you really think Apple has money to burn?
They have only just got 4G out the door, and you're asking for 5G?
For what it's worth, they've categorically stated that there will be no 60GiB iPod in the near future. That sort of statement typically means "in a year's time, at the earliest".
but as many will already know here, a massive order for 60gb micro-drives was filled by toshiba recently for apple. guess they'll be sitting on them awhile? if apple releases the 5G in a few months, consumers' expectations will be so out of whack they'll put off purchasing for awhile, no way apple will run that risk. i'm with stevie, it'll be the better part of a year till we see the 5G, imo.
and is there a need for YET ANOTHER new iPod/new iPod *****ing/wishing etc thread?
and what do u think?
that Apple will sit on their ass not doing anything for next xyz years and not update iPod?
OF COURSE there will be 5G in a year (probably a HD bump in next 6 months) <_<
I like it, Flarex...
I think it's the coolest iPod yet (which is why I've got one coming my way
)
/mubles
Stooopid iPod owning Stevie :6
and i`m not dissing 4G untill i hold it in my hand (although i doubt i`ll sell my lovely 3G baby anytime soon
)
PS just look at my new sig ![]()
just from looking at your sig, I think the 4G is awsome and a little better than the 3G. I never really liked the buttons. My favourite desing however would be the first generation. The 4G kinda brings back that style though.
i knw but apple knws that most of their customers will buy the new one no matter wut and coming out wit this one first then coming out with a new one soon after like november would a good idea for them when the money they used to come up with 4g like decreasing size could just be them working or sumtin

Four words spring to mind: "Oh do shut up".
Do you not read?
It's not good business practice. When has Apple ever released a major product revision, and then, less than six months later, released another major revision?
I can't think of a single time, under Jobs (and I can't comment on pre-Jobs-return).
The only sub-six-month revisions have been capacity oriented, such as the iMac 20", PowerMac dual 1.8GHz, and iPod 3G 40Gb.
In other words...
Not.
Gonna.
Happen.
It's been said by executives they won't even release a 4G 60GiB iPod, so why in the nine hells would they release a 5G so soon?
Try using common sense once in a while, and reading the facts that people put in front of you <_<
Personaly i think theyre grimeyy, im sticking with my 3g.
ok maybe this wasnt the real update just progress to the real update and ya that makes since they is not going to be a 60gb 4g SO OBVIOUSLY THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE A SIZE INCREASE SOON OR AT ALL but that would make u think 60gb 5g because as u notice he said 4g not 5g
ok think what is going to cause more people to buy it CALLING IT 4g (omg its the 4g ahh im getin it) or 3g with a biger hardrive
obviously the 4g would cause more customers to buy it and most apple customers have lots of money and want the newest one nywayz so releasing 5g around christmas would let apple make 2ce as much because people wit 4gs would buy 5gs
U Will NEVR KNW CAUSE APPLE IS GOOD WIT SECRETS
I definitly like the controls more, less finger movement. But, they could've added more features.
*cough*SOFTWARE SDK*cough*
Edit: What about "Stikin' with my G1/G2" option?
nillinu, you really don't get it, do you?
Now, let's see if you can follow along, and I'll speak slowly, just for you...
Apple.
Are.
Not.
Going.
To.
Release.
Another.
iPod.
Update.
In.
The.
Next.
6.
Months.
Maybe Apple are good with secrets, but they aren't stupid. This would be a waste of research and development money, and would alienate their dedicated iPod buyers - those who you claim would upgrade to the 5G straight away. They would be resenting Apple for making their brand new iPod 4G obsolete. That doesn't win customers, it makes them stop buying from you.
It's just good business sense.
If you can't accept the 4G iPod as being the only update for a long while, then that's just tough ****.
Now shut the hell up.
And if you double-post again, I'll give you a warning and put you on moderator-preview.
Mine's on it's way ![]()
Go get 'em Stevie ![]()
My god some people are just thick.
Of course if you read his profile, he is from the middle of nowhere in Arizona, or was that supposed to be Arkansas and he just don't read real well.
Yes, I live in AZ. as well, but the city of Phoenix is about 17 square miles larger than L.A. now, and growing, so I think it qualifies as "somewhere".
Back to the REAL topic, I like the new 4G iPod.
Reminds me of a grown up mini, of which I happen to own a silver mini right now.

Indeed.
I think the fact that my 4G is on it's way says it all ![]()
ok
i think i have enough background on Apple (being an Apple zealot and bussiness student who got A on his paper done on Apple's bussiness strategies, ok now i`m braggin but still..) anyway, here`s why ninilu (or whatever) is DEAD wrong.
First of all Joswiak said no 60gb iPod soon.
Should we take his word for it? No
But a good bussines sence tells us that if he/Apple broke his word lots of pple would be very pissed off. Why u ask? Well 60Gb is the market segment of the tech savy pple who are usually are the early adopters. If u drive away early adopters, u drive away the strongest marketing measure, oral recomendation. That`s number one.
Number 2. Introducing a 5G as u recommend in few months would be an unprecedented move for Apple. And why would they do that? To be honest i don`t know. iPod 4G is the closest thing to a perfect mp3 player there is. GUI, simplicity, power, all in one. I must admit that even though small, tweaks put 4G in front of 3G which is as we all know, the most popular mp3 player in the world at the moment. So 5G in NOT needed any time soon! What i expect is a powerPod which is a totally different thing.
3rd. There is no 3rd! Apple just released a 4th generation of the best and most polupar mp3 player in the world. Even the damn CNN is reporting it. From a marketing perspective, 4g is a cow that can (and WILL) be milked for a long time and wasting money and resources on a 5G introduced 2-3 months after the 4g (which won`t even have time to be distributed around the WORLD!) is not what a half brained idiot would do, not to mention a man as Steve Jobs, who is one of the best businessman out there.
PHEW!
My verdict is, 60gb iPod not before next April, powerPod (or something like it) maybe in Jan. But 5G, is not coming before WWDC next yr (even if then).
