Taha, Can You Help With Weather Icons

taha, i just got a program that shows the weather in my sys tray, but it has really ugly icons, so i was wondering if you could extract all the icons that you have in that weather program on the mac and seng em over if you have any spare time...

you are the greatest, thanx a bunch

may i ask what proggie this is? :)

#15756

well i have tried about a million of them, actually just 17..

the 2 best that i can find are called wetstock and weatherxpress 2000

wetstock is old and simple, but it does just what i want it to, so i would like to use that. It seems as though everytime i reshack it though, it stops working, i am not quite sure what is up with that.

anyway, the other one is really good, but i cannot find where the icons are located. Seriously, i have done alot of reshacking in my day, and the icons are no where to be found. But the program has 25 of them

i am still working on this and i really need thoose icons so i will update you all to the progress, but taha if i can get thoose from you that would be just awesome!!!!

UPDATE -

alright, well have have spent much time on this and am sick of it but I think i have it now

i found a program that works great, its actually an older version of wetstock...

now all i need is the icons, the icon set that i used here

click me to see

(look at the sys tray) is the best that i could come up with. If there was some way that i could get the icons from mac, that would be even better.

right now the program just shows the weather icon corresponding to the condition outside, and when you hover over it, it shows a tool tip

ie right now when i hover over it it says, Light rain showers, misty, 7 (degree symbol) C

ya so anyway, as soon as i get thoose icons, i will finish this all up and then i will talk to the admin of aqua-XP, who i think is shak, and see if he can put it on the site for you all. I can host it myself but it would be cool for you all to have it on the aqua Xp site as part of the whole deal

anyway thats all for now, need thoose icons, peace

Hi, sorry I can't help with the icons, but wanted to post just to encourage you with this project. I have been trying to do the same thing without any luck and would love to have this working on my PC too.

I suspect that weatherexpress2000 downloads the icons directly from the internet site it accesses as it needs them. I tried to reshack a program called weather1 to do the same thing and couldn't find the icons either.

Don't give up!! And well done for sticking with it. Someone will let you have the icons soon, I'm sure. Have you thought of asking for them on the mac board at neowin? The people there don't seem to mind sharing wallpapers and screenshots.

I have downloaded some of the icons from the forecasts at weather.com to play about with, but I am a real moron with reshack

Good luck.

fellow2000,

Is your version of wetstock a 30-day trial? (I'm not sure if it is crippled after 30 days).....

If not could you send me in the right direction of it's url?

Cheers

hi, just saw this thread. Sorry if its been a while since you posted it. What program's icon do you want. I believe there are several weather apps on the mac, do you want a specific one or will any of them do?

#16011

Hi all,

I have the icons from the OS X program Meterologist.

It's the one that seems to be featured in most of the OS X snapshots I have seen.

Compressed, the archieve is about 3.5 meg.

If someone is willing to host them, I will send them. But only once, so please, no repeated request from everyone, because I will just ignore them.

All the best,

Grusic

Waiting for more info from master Josh. ^_^

hey guys..

grusic, if you email them to Josh@Bryantsdesign.com I will host them personally.

there rest of you, That must be what it does with the icons, from the internet i mean. I just could not find them. I emailed the author of express and he still has not emailed me back yet.

taha - even though i am getting them from grusic, i would still love the mac originals. I am looking for the ones from the program called meterologist. thax a bunch man

the version of wetstock that i do have is the 30 day trial, as i did not want to spend money on any of them cause i think it should be free, and it is not the newest version cause the newest one does not work. Soooo, I am thinking that I will get that figured out, just need a little more time ;)

as soon as i get thoose icons, as long as they look pretty good then i will get started on finishing it up so that everyone can have it.

also, if you are not an xp user i am not sure how good this will look for you, because i dont know if older operating systems support high quality icons in the system tray. Just a thought.

anyway, guys thanx for thoose icons if i can get them and it should be released soon, thanx a bunch... peace
