[help] Trillian Ichat - Buddy Icons

i'm working on making the iChat 2.0 skin show the buddy icon for ppl on AIM/MSN/Yahoo, as the avatar.. have it working, except for a single little problem.. the icon files don't resize.. and most ppl's icons aren't 32x32 which is the size that is really.. use able w/o taking alot of screeen room.. so here is my question.. does anyone know how to make it resize the icon, like the lil icon drawer does?

Call me mad, but can't you "force" the image to be a certain size? Similar to the height="" and width="" tags in HTML? Since you're using XML, er right?

Been ages since I played with Trillian skins. So I can't remember well.

is how it shows listing the icon.. any idea on how to change that to force the icon size? lol

once we get this figured out, it shouldn't be too hard for someone to write a program that reads the xml buddy list for trillian, lets you select the names that you want to do this for, and adds the xml code to the emoticon file.

code you need to add to the emoticon main.xml file:

ie.

(in your profile directory there is a buddy icon cache directory, the files are located there.. need to make a line for each person or if you want to show their icon for each service, added lines per each msg service)

then under prefs

ie.

(or whatever we figure out to get the emoticons to show resized.. OR, you can go and set other ppl's icon, by placing a bmp/gif in that buddy cache directory, naming it (service)-accountname )

this works fine, as long as you add the " : " after the person's username.. b/c if you don't and the person has a username that is.. a common word.. b/c it replaces the word w/ the icon every single time it sees it.. and as you can imagine, this could get.. annoying :-P

oh well.. aside from the resize issue, is anyone interested in doing an.. iChat art selector? lolol it shouldn't be too different from an art downloader. need a program that looks for buddyuri from the buddies.xml file in your profile, adds the ones it finds to a running list. listing the account type (aim, msn, yahoo, etc).. the account name, and the buddy name (between the > <). then checks your buddy cache file to see if there are any matching files, and giving the option to select your own for each name, w/ a way of selecting each name.. so it can append the lines to the main.xml file in your emoticon directory... the avatar groups appended to the start of the file.. and the icon selector names appended after

yeah, i know this is probably harder than i think it is.. since i've got very little programming experiance lol but you get the idea.

the one for my username was the avatars.bmp file that comes w/ iChat 2.0 but i had it sized at 32x32... if you set it to 75x32 you get the rest of the icon.. and i made another one similar to it for my own use. as for the other avatar.. that is a peice of photography called Ophelia Drowns by my good friend Amanda Keeys aka Kittynn, the person i was speaking to, you can see the rest of her work at kittynn.deviantart.com

can't upload the icon i'm using right now, b/c the boards don't seem to support .bmp files. lol
