This article was posted on slashdot not too long ago. It is a review of Opera vs Firefox. Firefox wins, getting 4 stars while Opera gets 3.5. If you are still using IE, the time is ripe to switch over!

At time of posting, it loaded slowly, probably due to being posted on /. as well as how many people are eying other browsers ATM.
firefox is still very much entrenched in a niche in the browser market. even with all this publicity, most people are still using ie...and they don't care.
i've been a firefox user since 0.6 and i've never looked back.

very true Dreamz, every computer i've fixed, i've always installed Firefox, reason being to increase the productivity of each user i've come across. of course if you don't explain to them why it's a much better browser they'll always go back to being Microsoft dependent.
I've found that the people that i explain the great uses of firefox they tend to switch sides but of course from time to time they'll go back to use IE (win updates) but that's not a big issue either.
I myself have been a user of firefox since the 0.7 version came out and have been glad that i've found something as customizable to my own use.
Same here, sei-aidyn. I fix my friend's computers all the time using remote assistance. Along with installing Firefox, comes Ad-aware, iTunes, and the Royale theme.

But IE hasn't been available for *nix for a looong time now, so "IE Alternative" implies Windows or Mac - and IE/Mac isn't supported anymore, and so is in the same boat as *nix IE - and, unless you intend to use Firefox in Cygwin or PearPC (or install Linux), this is, as I said, best suited to Windows Software.

Anywho, I've been using Firefox since the days of Phoenix.. 0.3 or 0.4 I think. I've only seen the program get better and better over time (although the name changes got annoying after a bit.
)
As for "now" being the time to find an IE alternative, I think it's always been time for that.. people need to break away from IE, at least until the re-structured IE team takes that browser to town. Hopefully, they'll surgically extract it from the rest of the OS; then it might become "usable" again.
