Hey. I downloaded Panther CD and I have a file labeled
Panther Something something.DMG. I also have PearPC. PearPC
has just a whole bunch of funny looking little files that do nothing
when clicked. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now. Can
anyone help me out. ? Do I have to burn the DMG file somehow ?

No you don't have to burn the image you just have to make one config file.
To make the config file see the file "ppccfg.example"
And after create this file you must launch pear pc like this :
ppc.exe the name of you config file.
It says it could not open some "Linux.img" test file. :cry:

Nope, their documentation is not crap.
In fact, I think that it's your use of a .dmg file that is the issue. If you look here: http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/idesetup.html, you will see that Windows users need an .iso file from a legal copy of the Mac OS X CD.

A *.DMG file is a mountable file that can be used only in Mac OS. Launching the file creates a Virtual Drive containing the information. You need the ORIGINAL CD and image that to an *.iso to include the boot information.
Being a Windows user does not allow you to download Panther. Warez is not allowed on this board and theres a reason if you really want Panther go out and Buy it!
O.k. Now I have a normal ISO file. What should I do with it ?

What he said. All these people to claim to love Apple stuff, and as soon as they can use Panther, they go out and pirate it instead of buying a copy..
So this is what I did to get Tiger into my system:Install Panther (ok, I already had it installed so call me a cheater) on a 6 GB partition.
Create an ISO that contains Tiger's DMG/CDR -- I made mine with WinISO (just drag that DMG inside and save).
Boot up into Panther with the 6 GB HD as master and the ISO containing the DMG as slave.
Copy the DMG to your Panther HD (this is why we needed 6 GB!)

And I want to install Mac OS X Panther on my second 8 GB HD. I am a
complete n00b. I don't even get it with all these downloadable HD things. :cry:

Look use the link posted above if you really have to use that version of Panther.
What do you want us to say? You want us to help you and tell you what to do? All we are going to say is exactly what has been said in the tutorials because thats how its done theres no other way. There is no way of making it easier this site has enough 'help me with PearPC' threads, use Google Ive seen about 50 Tutorials since the release of PearPC and I didnt even use one I found it that easy. Just read it carefully and follow it to the letter and youll be sorted.

I somehow think you won't get help anywhere else as you are not actually reading what seem to be plain, clear and simple instructions.
BTW. Have you thought that your illegal copy of Panther could be the problem?

This is exactly the tutorial I followed to install Panther before installing Tiger. You can't get any clearer than this.

find that Cat7 Thing. It says "search the forum for it" so I did and I
got about 400 results none of which had anything to do with HD
images. I even googled it but all I got was a jibberish about casio
palmtops. Any ideas ?
