Im focusing on the icon/logo that says welcome. Do you like it or hate it? Im really not sure if it looks good. I would appriciate your suggestions (if you have any)

Welcome needs to be short and sweet, moving people along to your content. The fact you have a welcome logo is enough ot make people feel invited, but you dont want to stall theyre attention on it.
Try "Welcome!" in white/ dark blue like you have, blue background and same white border. Remove all the lines and shades of blue.

I agree with DZ. On a separate note, the body text on the site is a funny font. Now either you're using an obscure font which your visitors probably wont have, which will make the page look funny when it appears as Times, or you're using images to display the text, which is a bad idea as it increases loading times and means people can't copy text from the site.
The best way to avoid these is to design your site using Arial or another common font. You can also use css to specify a font-family where if the comp viewing the page doesn't have that font, it falls back and uses a different one that you specify.
