they're just following the same path as google because they don't want to have to depend on them.
they want to have some control over how they're os integrates with internet/etc. searches, and keep future technologies as open as possible for themselves.
overall, its more a business than tech. orientated play.
it doesnt look as nice as google, and google doesnt look as nice as Loogle

It must have taken Google aeons and millions of dollars worth of designers' time to come up with that <_<

Yes, the search results are generally better, but most people (myself, for example) massively preferred not having blatant advertising strewn across the page.
As for stealing ideas, the hard part isn't stealing the ideas, it's implementing them properly. Most of the ideas Microsoft have "stolen", they've almost always done a better job of them.
Take GUIs... Microsoft Windows 95 is still considered the pinnacle in terms of GUI acceptance. It's pretty much common knowledge in most countries now how to use Win95-style GUIs. Show an "Average Joe" a Mac, thought, and they won't know what to do, first off. The same could be said of Linux. This, of course, is not to say that Win95's GUI is the best or most usable, but it is by far the best accepted.

I recon it wont be long before google redesigns their site. nothing major, just cleaner and tidier. what do you recon?
google is amazing! its such a small company compared to microshaft, and it is doing incredibly well, world leader in searching 
But speed isn't everything. Has any one tried the same search across both engines? It would be fun to see the results and which site had the most accurate hits.

Happens more often than most people think.
Google includes other search engine results in their results so they can say they return more sources than any other search engine.
It's all marketing crap. So they can say that they have the MOST results when really they have the most fluff.
Beyond the first two or three pages on ANY search engine, the relevance to your original query drops drasticaly.
i like the msn look even though I've been using google for soo long
hey I'm all for computer companies stealing ideas from each other and making it better if anything it makes the end result better which in return is better for the consumer
