Aqua-Soft ForumsI was wondering if i could upgrade my mac os 9.2.2 to jaguar and keep all my files and setting intact? Without making backups and keeping all of the programs on 9.2 intact as well.

[question] Mac Classic Environment
1) Why 10.2?
2) You should be able to Archive and Install (keeps users, files, applications), but I'm not one hundred percent sure that's do-able from OS9.
3) Remember, you'll need to install the Classic environment to use OS9 apps, which isn't included in the "default" Mac OS installation, it's on another disc (I'm speaking for Panther here, could well be included by default for Jaguar).
Anyway~ I'd recommend a fresh install anyway, it causes less problems with applications and such.
OS 10.x is not an upgrade for OS 9.x
OS X can be installed on the same partition as OS 9.x, and you can switch between the two by running startup disk and selecting the appropriate system folder to boot from.
I have installed OS X on the same partition as OS 9.2.2 and it works like a dream.
Just don't do a "clean" install were it reformats the drive first.
If you do that, you're screwed.
You also get your preferences when you use classic in OSX because it is running OS9 over OSX.
