Objectdock For Linux

would that ever be attainable? it'd be tight if so

i personaly would love to see any dock proted.. but of course.. the X windowing system is not really well to handle per pixel alpha blending or transparency at all...it would be nice to have it on linux but i just dont know if it would be possible.. im sure a low "detailed" one can.. but unless they fix somthings in Xwindow then we are kinda out of luck

There are ways in which you could make something like it using Evas (the rendering library used in E17). And I know of one project on sourcefourge.net (glass panel). But not sure if it's still being worked on.

Only thing about that is that you can't alpha blend it over a window only over the bg, so you can't do an always on top thing with it.

Of course the new xfree86 supposed to have alpha blending coming out in a few months too.
