Two Questions Regarding The Forum

1--why is rips and unauthorized works under the digital studio... this just seems like it was positioned wrong...

2--does this screenshot have anything to do with the advertising links, i only get the pop-up on this site.

i get that error too sometimes, and about rips and authorized works, it was stevie i think that said that it kinda made sense going there, as it is the digital arts forum and when people rip, thats what they rip, so its inside it. if that makes sense.

Yes, we thought it would be a good place to put it in as it is digital works (ergo digital studio) that are ripped, and most importantly, people that visit the Digital studio often will be able to see information about rips a lot more easily.

Hope it makes sense.

it happens indiscriminanty... every-so-often when i go into a topic.

edit--everytime it does happen, i've noticed "transferring data from itxt.vibrantmedia.com" in the status bar...

Timan, I also get that error everytime I go to the Aqua-Soft homepage. It happens everytime for me. I am using Firefox 0.9.1 if that helps.

If you ever want to remove some of these really nasty ad sites (vibrantmedia, fastclick, etc) once and for all (dont do it for A-S though, we need the money ), you'll want to add the domain to your hosts file and point it to 127.0.0.1 (your local machine). This will cause any attempts to contact that site to fail.

Check out this site, it's got a prebuilt hosts file, and some more info on the subject:

If you want to actually remove any of the "space" the ads create (not in the A-S case, but you shouldnt be removing them anyway), check out the AdBlock extension for firefox. It's not as good as the HOSTS file, but you dont have to mod any "system" files (its completely safe though).

I know this isn't the solution Tim wanted, but he'll live....

would the one for a.s. be what i mentioned above, vibrantmedia? i noticed that was listed in the hosts file i downloaded, and a.s. now is running with 0 latency.

Well thanks for removing the ads, its only slow now because the ads go though the whole site, I've yet to do a skin to actually customize what the ads go through. You guys can live a week with a little if any slow down. <_

when you fix it in the skin, i'll remove vibrantmedia from the host file. it really did make it hard to go through any thread.
