Mac Prices...

Ok, here goes: I'm seriously considering getting a mac. Both for My Audio work and for Fun. I went to the Apple store (online) in Australia and this is the system I'm sort of after. -Well for the price I can't really get much more.

• 256MB SDRAM - 1 DIMM

• iMac 600MHz

• 40GB Ultra ATA drive

• CD-ROM drive

• Mac OS X and Mac OS 9

• Harman Kardon speakers

• Apple Pro Keyboard

• Apple Pro Mouse

I would like a bit more ram (double) and a slightly faster cpu. A burner would be nice too.

Is this considered expensive for what it is?

I can get a pc pretty similar in specs for about $900-1000.

Why change?

1.- Mac is a Prety puter...

2.- Apple is a Preaty brandname

3.- I luv Apple

4.- Not to mention that OSX is unix based OS

but then, I think in REAL WORLD and:

1.- Apple is slower than any other PC (1000 Ghz max vs 3 Ghz PC) RISC vs CISC BAH!!!!

2.- I might ONLY use Mac software

3.- Games, games games... (I dont need to explain this, right?)

4.- Why I have to spend US$1500 in a Mac if I can spend only US$600 for a MUCH faster and compatible PC machine?

5.- I am a graphic designer, then ppl says to me: YOU NEED A MAC!!! my answer: YOU R WRONG!!!! PC own the same kind of graphic software than Mac, PLUS lots of apps that Apple never will own.

This is my "sad" reality
