Apple has stopped taking orders for the current iMac as we begin the transition from the current iMac line to an all-new iMac line which will be announced and available in September.
Apple's New Imac
Mmm new iMacs... I wonder if they're changing the housing like they did the displays?
Speaking of the Keynote presentation, that was awesome, anyone have any info about 'Orbit' or 'Freefall' ?
According to some rumors, the next-generation iMacs will be a LCD panel with the computer behind it.
I wonder where the DVD/CD slot would be then?
The site perhaps? There is many possibilities!
I like that design, guess mainly because I'm used to using laptop/notebook computers more than my desktop. It's basically a table mounted laptop with the base attached to the back of the display isn't it?
Kinda cool, can't wait to see Apple's design

As long as Apple don't integrate the keyboard and make it with their usual flare and innovative design..
I better start saving up all over again! ![]()

@sexxi: keyboards are of course wireless detachable :canadian:
but yeah, i'd love to see apple's spin on these types of desktops.

That frightens me on so many levels. Really it does.
u think theyll switch to an LCD? crts are VERY inexpensive. so are imacs, in comparison to the rest of their line of computers! an LCD would not have UXGA so itd only support lower reses. if they put a UXGA in it, theyd sacrifice in other areas. i just think it aint worth it.
They already have LCD monitors
Maybe he is thinking of the eMac, those are CRT's right?

i wonder how they're going to package them, what with the heat issues.
price should be interesting too, might actually be an affordable highend mac.

Apple's mid 90s new Mac mockups and prototypes do show this sort of concept where the CD does come out of the side.
