that gave me an idea for this suggestion:
i think an iPod syncing app would be a GREAT thing...
i saw something similar (with a somewhat simplified aqua interface) on ipodding.com... an app called iPodsync, but it's only able to sync outlook stuff...
one central mp3 and PIM ipod syncing app, like ephpod, but with a simpler, "one touch" simplistic interface and in aquasoft style...

Great suggestion, orcinus. Congratulations on your iPod.
Duckie, Xplay and MacDrive (I think it's MacOpener now?) are for the iPods for the Mac, not the one for which orcinus has.

anyhow...
xplay DOES support win ipods, but you have to pay for it... and it doesn't have much looks (it integrates into explorer as i recall) nor "kick" in it...
there is, like i mentioned, ephpod which looks good, is free, works fine (well not always... it screwes up ipods mp3 database sometimes so there are orphan files left)... it does lack "coolness", aqua looks and, like i said before, some "one touch" functionality...
there's also musicmatch jukebox and, well... i won't comment on that one 8)

It would be particularly neat if a plug-in could be developed to work with QCD to syn with the Win version of the iPod.
Well, personally, i don't like QCD (i'm more of a winamp3 user although it's much slower... there are neater skins for it and it's feature richer... plus the wasabi scripting / component system rulez...)
but that would be ok too...
a particularly cool sync function for any kind of ipod enabled player would be to "tick off" songs in current playlist (or playlists) that you've already listened and transfer a special playlist to ipod with "used" songs removed... so when your work on your comp is interrupted and you walk away, you grab your ipod and continue listening to the same list...
suggested name: "playlist roaming"

Winamp has far fewer skins for version 3 than QCD does all together.
QCD can import any WinAmp plug-in as well as Sonique plug-ins.
QCD has a mini browser, cddb support, and other features as well.
QCD has something WinAmp doesnt. A sync plug-in.
QCD loads faster and is less of a memory hog.
QCD can tag multiple ID3's at once.
Winner, QCD.

QCD is quicker than W3.
QCD has a lightening fast search.
QCD is developed by a very decent chap who listens to improvement suggestions and is free from commercial interference.
QCD can run any external program such as Nero, ReplayGain, EAC, etc, using it's Elephant plug-in.
and there is a new version about to appear very soon.
Appart from that, W3 beats it hands down.
Personally I prefer Media Jukebox 8, it sounds better than W3 or QCD, and I can use SpidercrabX's W2 brushed skin... best of all worlds for me (apart from it costs a lot more).
OK OK... let's NOT turn this into a "QCD vs. winamp3" thread!
like i said, it's just a personal preference...
i like it because of antialiasing, transparency, nice little audio fade effects (not just xfade, but fades on stop, pause, skip etc.) and some nice skins i got used to (i never said there are more winamp3 skins...

ps: btw... i'm encoding my 18th CD since i bought the ipod... have to reencode everything because my music collection was encoded in oggs... alas, ipod can't read them so i have to do it all over again... 
Ummm...SpiderCrabX, did you develop a skin for W3??? Sorry, I don't know if it's you but in the old Aqua-Soft someone was talking about making an iTunes3 skin for W3.....just wanted to know..
oh and what happened to the guy who was making iTunes....I think his name was AlexTheMacOwner or something....seems to have disappeared.

Siddharth - I am not developing a W3 iTunes skin. I can't remember who was developing a W3 skin but there were certainly a few people keen to do so. However, I think there was just a lot of talk when W3 was finally released. To do a visualy good W3 skin should not be too difficult, but to make W3 behave like iTunes is a very big undertaking.
I did see a few iTunes related threads over at the W3 skin forum over the last few months.
However, if there was someone crazy enough, an itunes wa3 skin would be very doable thing...
wa3's skin scripting system is very powerfull and, heck, you could even write a whole new component with itunes functions... forementioned wasabi is a great thing... the problem is no one uses it to it's full extent at the moment...

I like both WA3 and QCD, but WA3 has better sound quality. If someone can tell me where to get a plugin that has sound quality like WA3, i'll be in thier debt
I personally use MusicMatch Jukebox Plus and I have to say I am DAMN impressed with the DFX plugin for it
Now Duckie you say that QCD (which I haven't tried yet) can use any Winamp Plugin...I know they make a DFX plugin for Winamp...do you think I could use this plugin with QCD?
MDZ61384 - It's not quite correct that QCD can use any Winamp plug-in. QCD can use Winamp DSP plug-ins. So yes, QCD can use DFX for Winamp.
QCD can also use Sonique visualisations.
bill - If you find the sound of QCD not as good as W3, then something in QCD is not set up right. Make sure you try the Wave and Directout playback methods to find which is the best. There should be no difference in sound quality between W3 and QCD. Both are as good as it gets.
