[help] I Cant Get The Uxtheme.dll Patcher To Work?

I've got the UXtheme Multi-patcher version 1.5 from Neowin.net, and it wont install the uxtheme patch because it says I have NT setup files on the hard disk. How can I install the patch? I tried manually, but I dont think I done it right as I still cant run any skin I want yet. Anyone have any ideas?

neowin's multipatcher doesn't work for a lot of people.

try this one: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...117160&hl=patch

note: it's for sp1.

simply run the exe, wait for the windows file protection dialog, cancel the file restoration, reboot, and you can use your themes.

also make sure the themes service is set to auto.

you might also try patching in safe mode.

finally, to test if it patched or not, double-click the msstyles file. if it loads, then it worked. if not, you need to repatch. however, if it loads, but you still don't see it in the display properties, you need to rename the folders. the folder and filename must correspond, e.g. gloss.msstyles must be in a folder called "gloss."

now that didn't work either. It said it patched it, and to click reboot, but it wouldn't reboot. It also didnt' pop up any Microsoft messages, and tried to open a cmd prompt, but my cmd prompt isn't working for some reason. Am I going to have to try to do this manually again?

i just use safe mode works 100% of the time and theres no need to replace copy etc.

So let me try to inderstad here. This is a first reading about this for me....

- So you make a backup of your uxtheme.dll

- Then run teh patcher

- And then you can add msstyles without using StyleXP?

i would just follow the instructions that dav linked to... you won't need stylexp then.
