i dont see how it resembles the mac os x interface. but neways, it aint released yet. i cant find a link to download, and its not even finished! they said they are doing testing in july! well, who knows. sun is just trying to get back into this OS game.

It doesn't resemble the Mac OS X interface.

Project Looking Glass is a project lead by Sun (the project went open source sometime last week if I am correct) that is trying to get a new way to deal with the placement of windows.

Instead of minimizing them, the windows go into a 3D perspective style.

It's a very intresting concept, but I don't think its very practical. The visual style also needs alot of work. Icons etc aren't very "pretty". They just look like high res versions of bad icons. -_-

ok the whole 3d thing reminds me of siwu's expire. i bet itll require a lot of resources to run and thus shun a lot of people away. would you want to give up THAT much processing power (3d graphics, right??) and ram etc for something cool to look at for 3 seconds.....well maybe for some of you...but WHILE you are running a few filters in photoshop, burning a cd, and trying to alt-tab using that thing? iono...we'll see...thats all i can say.

The whole point of it being 3D is that your video card will render it. All that other stuff you mentioned is done on your processor. So in theory, you should be able to have amazing 3D effects going on during all of that without ANY slowdown. Now, if you wanted to play a 3D game while the effects were happening, that would cause problems.

And do you need all those ellipses? We don't care when you stopped to think while posting.
