Rss Button For Brushed Firefox 0.8

If you have Firefox 0.8 (don't know if it works with 0.9), the RSS newsfeeds extension, have converted the browser to PixelPerfect Brushed Safari theme, & want to change the ugly RSS button, I threw up 2 quick and dirty replacements for this...

rss_blue.gif - This button is just the scaled down icon displayed at the Safari RSS page at Apple's site.

rss_blue.gif

rss_safari.gif - This button is just using the standard safari button look with RSS on top.

rss_safari.gif

Instructions on using these buttons.

1. In order to use these buttons, select one that you like, and rename it RSS.GIF

2. Goto your C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\xxxxxxxx.slt\chrome directory and open your rssreader.jar file. (you may need winrar if you can't open this compressed file.)

3. "In" the rssreader.jar compressed file, navigate to the "skin\classic\rssreader" directory, there you will see the original rss.gif file.

4. SHUTDOWN FIREFOX NOW

5. Drop your new rss.gif file into the skin\classic\rssreader directory in the rssreader.jar file. It should save the changes automatically and then you can close that file.

6. Open firefox again and your button shouldn't be ugly anymore.

FYI: Safari RSS for OS X Tiger does not have the RSS button It's actually just a drop down bookmark folder and search bar labeled "RSS" that sits next to the "Google" bar.

This was just a quick fix so that I wouldn't have to stare at the ugly original icon all day.

Hope this is of some help to people on this forum.

Speaking of RSS News Feeds, here's a Safari RSS icon I threw together for kicks. Enjoy.

Whoops. Yeah I guess I shoulda read the forum rules. I'll go about seeing if I can tag this thread even though it's pretty much out of date now.

Thanks again for reminding me to check.
