AHHHH  I have the money to go buy a new powerbook the cash in hand. All the money I got from my relitives for graduation and some that ive been saving my dad wont let me go buy a powerbook. He seems to think if I wait till August they will be better when he would not let me go to the apple store today to get one I was well to say the least upset So I have a pile of cash that I just have to let sit and be a pile of cash instead of a new 17inch powerbook wtf

Been there, done that. It meant I was able to get the newer spec powerbook rather that the older ones. Listen to the man. He might be right.

Fustration I bet! But think how you'll feel in a couple of months time when a better a newer powerbook comes out, and you stuck with the one that you brought a few months earlier.

I just bought a 1.5Ghz 17" powerbook...I think there next release will probally be till next year if that maybe a little speed bump... I mean Apple is already having a hard time cooling a G4 cpu with lquid cooling and all..makes me wonder if the G5 will be ever be put inside a powerbook

This is one of those situations where patience wins above all. Control your anger, it's only a computer. August isn't that far off.

how much cash exactly do you have? you do realize that for the price of a 17" powerbook you can buy a pimpin top of the line PC. or an alienware gaming notebook. but whatever, its ur call. macs sure do give you that good feeling when you use them.

haha I dont think so. The config of an alienware gaming notebook with the same specs as my powerbook will be $$ as hell. I think I priced it out at close to 3000$

I got my powerbook at 2300$ shipped (friend works at the apple store) :6

This is with the 128MB radeon and the 5400RPM 80 gig harddrive...

I just checked alienware's website

for 512MB ram, slowest proc avaible (2.8Ghz P4), 80GB HD, and a radeon 9700 its around 2454.00

which is kinda a good deal lol...I dunno...Im using my laptop more for designing and sound production, my shuttle gaming rig at home is for gaming hahaha

how do shuttle computers perform? you have one, so id like to ask you! and about upgrading, WHAT exactly can you upgrade? they are very economical and tiny, thats for sure! id love to have one around.

Personlly I am going to wait until they hopefully release the G5 in a power book and when Tiger comes out and just buy it then, early next year maybe?

well the shuttle athlon XP systems are really cheap barebones.

I got the SN41G2 V2 it runs on the Nforce2 chipset.

Slap some dualchannel DDR and a AIW radeon and your rollin.

As far as motherboard wise performance its on par with bigger ATX class motherboards. No real problem comes from them at all. :) I use my mostly for a file server, I have 2 160GB harddrives and a DVD burner...if you get an All in wonder use it as a Tivo, or I use it to compress video since it takes longer for my powerbook to crunch video up..

Mine is all aluminum...Im waiting till the 20" aluminum cinema display becomes availble at the apple store here...then I have a full aluminum desktop system haha.

They have ALOT cooler P4 Mobos check it out www.shuttle.com

ok about shuttle computers. thats tight that you can actually FIT 2 hard drives and a dvd drive in there...unbelievable actually. i personally am using a notebook and an older (but still good) desktop. eh, it works well enough for me! i have a cool network setup...thats what im investing my money into. my comps are fast enough for what i do. if i really feel the NEED for a new one, then maybe.

btw, good luck with your powerbook whenever u can get it.
