Go Cube!! I think the Cube is THE most beautiful computer in the world. Sad that Apple discontiued it..

My uncle has a cube and it is quite an unbelievable computer. I would research the design of the cube first and take measurements to see that your parts will fit inside.

well, i'd say check out one of those websites that dissassembled it, so you can use that info in reverse.

oh, and i say put a Mini ITX board in it instead fo the apple business.

ah, and if there's somewhere you can stick a small quiet fan, you should DO IT cuz i hear it's heatsink isn't all that good.

Hi,

I'm a bit confused here by the preceding posts.

Are you planning on building an actual G4 Cube? If so, I would suggest just buying one from an online action.

Or are you planning on building an x86 based PC in a Mac Cube case? Now that I would find very interesting!

All the best,

Grusic

I'm pretty sure that's finished now. -I remember reading about it sometime last year in November. :)

The Mini-itx case in a model car is pretty impressive. ;) -Now that's a case mod! :D

Cheers

I used to have the cube but it kept on going bonkers on me and finally the whole thing couldn't be repaired and the replacement board was too expensive so it's just sitting in my storage room now. The techs told me that the most common problem with the cube was overheating because it had no space for a fan. That was why Apple discontinued it.

If you still intend to use the cube, make sure you are in an airconditioned area and keep a powerful fan pointed at the air vents.

good luck.

I would imagine that it stay cool enough in Ca. that over heating may not be that much of a problem.

I'm doing the same thing as you. I found cubeowner.com very helpful. here's a topic from another guy who was building a cube http://www.cubeowner.com/forums//index.php...ct=ST&f=1&t=732 . If you need any help finding parts, I was able to locate everything, just can't afford to buy everything yet.
