[help] Soundcard To Hi-fi?

Ok i've had this on my mind recently...

is it possibaly to connect my pc's sound card to my hi-fi..

I have a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 sound card and the inspire 5100 speakers..

my hi-fis speakers are atleast twice as powerfull and would like to see if i could connect them up..

i've had a look about.. but im a n00b at hardware.. so i thought i'd ask first..

I have a aiwa hi-fi.. the XR-M55 i couldn't find any usefull web pages on it though.. :6

EDIT: the hi-fi has an optical out.. an auxilary(sp?) connection.

and i'm also on a very tight budget

the hi-fi has an optical out.. an auxilary(sp?) connection

this won't help you, you need a digital input. that stereo doesn't have digital input...

it is a micro system after all.

you'll be able to get stereo, but not 5.1. and it will be analogue (with possible interference from your computer, which you probably won't notice).

basically you just need a cable that splits into left and right rca plugs to plug into the back of your aiwa.

you can also keep your computer speakers hooked up at the same time(your sound card has multiple outputs). this way you can have more speakers set up all around you, plus a woofer (i didn't check your stereo specs, does it have a woofer output?). you won't be getting true surround/5.1, but you will get good stereo.

it'll probably just cost you 10$ for one cable.

edit: no that stereo doesn't have output for a woofer.

so i just have to buy a stero rca cable and plug that into my hi-fi...

then my sound card? or the woofer on my pc's speaker set?
