Hi, yeah yeah, after thinking a lot i've decided to switch to an iMac 
, and I have some question for mac users:
which program should I use to watch videos in mpg/avi format?
what peer-to-peer programs are available for mac? maybe a Kazaa or eMule version for Mac?
and the last one: I have an iPod for PC, is it possible to plug it in the iMac? maybe updating the software of the iPod with the mac files?

not a full-time mac user (soon to own a mac) but i might be able to answer a few of these questions
first, you can still go to download.com and look for mac software, and even apple software on their site
mpg/avi software - quicktime might be able to do the trick, and they also have Windows Media Player for Mac (a bit contradictory)
P2P - Limewire, or any linux/unix share progs (i heard GiFT was good), once again, check download.com in the mac section
iPod for PC - most likely wont work with mac, i read about it when apple released the PC version and i'm pretty sure it said it would be incompatible with a mac, but plug it in and see if it works
thats the beauty of a mac, plug it in and if its going to work, it does. if its incompatible, it will tell you or just wont show up. Windows teases you and you have to reboot three times and sacrifice a virgin goat to bill gates to see if it works.......ok, cancel the virgin goat
In a way the iPod situation is kind of funny. Apple has all these commercials of people switching, and then in this case, if someone actually does switch, yet they own a $300+ Apple product for their Windows machine, it won't actually work on the machine they are switching to.
Oh the irony.
EDIT: Well if what was said below is the case then nevermind, I was just going off of what Sakasune said. But that sure would be funny if it were the case.

i've heard it wasn't posible, an employed from the fnac (shopping center) told me that maybe I'd need to make some mod to the pc iPod to make it work with a Mac (didn't specified what kind of mod).

oh yeah, thats right that OSX can read FAT32 because i wanted some songs from a friend's mac, and i gave him my firewire drive (FAT32) and it worked fine!
and i guess you could also format the iPod for mac, and just use a different cable
hmmm...if i just had $200+
mac computers really beautifull i love them but pc is pc 98% of the soft&hardware 4 the pc, no kazaa,no edonkey,even my adsl model doesnt work with the mac
so problems problems who need any more problems ????

hehe, i was in the same situation last week 
i did switch to the imac. and i'm not looking back.
video lan client is for mpg/avi. quicktime also. i don't have any p2p programs installed right now...
i have a windows (thats what it says on the box 
) ipod that i hooked up to the imac. i ran the ipod software updater on the mac and it reformatted it as a macintosh version. however, i lost all my songs.

I'm not sure if I remember right, but I've read the following about iPods...
You can't use an iPod for Mac in Windows, but you can format an iPod for Windows to work with a Mac (irreversible process).

2) Best divx/avi/mpg player is VLC, NOT quicktime, NOT mplayer. Quicktime is good for mpg actually, but it plays avi's awefully..

don't worry taha, it's not just the beautiness of X, i've been thinking it carefully and everything I do now with a PC i'll be able to do it with a mac. Basically I use the PC for music, internet, mail, office and a bit of photoshop so there's no problem.
The only task that i can't do on the mac is programming for the university because all the apps that I make are for PC, so I'll keep my old PC for programming.
Anyway, I have to wait until march because the guys at fnac are waiting for the new models of iMac to arrive I'm really excited !! I want it N

well, you can do Java and C++ on a mac too. If you want to to VB, you can use Virtual PC (I have it 
) to run windows on it. Visual Basic aint too slow on VPC.
Everything else is more fun/better on a mac too.
**cough** except for gaming **cough**, but thats not a problem for me, since I stopped playing games when I was around 10.

I know, but the problem comes when my teacher test the executable files (from mac) on a pc . A bit dangerous I think
unlike many people, i just say if you want a mac, dont wait a single minute, cause you dont wanna regret it
first get it, then have regrets, not beforehand.
Another thing the evil microsoft doesnt have yet (and obviously they will steal it and make it "extended" that only PCs will be compatible with), is the RENDEZVOUS and ability to have a server on the osx.
