[help] No Connections Visible

Since a little while after I formatted and set up my connection/network, nothing has been visible in the Network Connections part of the Control Panel, even though my connection has been working up until now.

I was going to install PearPC again (meaning first time since formatting) today, which meant I installed OpenVPN (network driver dealies) for networking support in PPC.

Well, that fecked up my connection. I can't go to my DNS server dealie to log in/out from Bellsouth (my ISP) either, and ipconfig shows nothing.

So I uninstalled OpenVPN--nothing.

I guess what I need is a way to make everything in Network Connections show up again so I can enable my connetion and/or whatever. >.< (so yes, I am on another computer)

// thx

You didn't happen to install Windows XP SP2, did you?

There's a known issue with certain NICs and SP2, whereby SP2 just plain refuses to show anything...

Likewise with bluetooth adapters :blink:

Nosir, running XP Home SP1 and I don't have any Bluetooth adapters, but thanks for playing. ;)

Maybe I could try repairing my Windows installation (anyway)? Obtain Control Panel dlls?

That's always worth a go, I guess...

Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your NICs, either from the management console, or doing a "proper" uninstall (turning them off in the BIOS, or unplugging 'em)?

Wow, that did the trick...why didn't I think of that? ;) Everything's visible again and the connection works. Next time anything happens with my connection that can't be fixed via logging in/out from my ISP, etc., I'll try uninstalling the device...

dun dun dun...another help one of my help threads bites the dust...
