[release] Itunes Art Importer

Hello! This is my first post here although I've been lurking for quite some time. If any of you frequent deviantART, you might recognize me from there.

Anyway...

I really like iTunes for Windows, but one problem I've had with it is that it doesn't pick up album art when I rip a CD I've searched for something to pull in artwork, but it seems that tools for the Windows version are few and far between. So I decided to try my hand at my first VB.NET application when I saw that Apple released the COM interface reference. This is what I've got so far...

It's not perfect, but it's better than having to keep an old copy of Musicmatch installed just to track down album art.

Feedback is welcome, but please be gentle with me.

of all the easy little touches that os x is so famous for, u'd think in at least tiger update they would add this simply feature - great work bro on your first app - if this could be built into itunes as a plugin perhaps that would rock

Very nice.

It seems to create a conflict with the SysStats iTunes doclet, causing the docklet not to work if the album art is retrieved while the docklet is running.

Not a big deal really - Ive already used this to download art for 5 albums I was having trouble importing art for (being too lazy to use Google to ifnd the art).

I can't wait to try this, thank you so much. I use mega-search.net to get album art, is there anyway we can incorporate this into the app? I really like download hi-res album art images, so it might be a good idea. Thanks again for the app.

What size album art do you get from mega-search? Do they have some sort of web service interface? I'm willing to incorporate any other search options that are available.

I have to say, I've been using this for a full day now and I absolutely love it more than I did during the first few hours of use.

This little app is a lifesaver with iTunes.

A few features I would (humbly) like to request:

1.) The ability to stop during a search.

2.) Rounded bottom right corner to match the rounded bottom left corner.

3.) Song list when queing multiple songs in a playlist, in order to select album covers for each song. For example, I might select the following songs in a playlist...

Rob Zombie - Black Sunshine

Rob Zombie - Scum of the Earth

S.O.A.D. - Sugar

etc...

I might get back two or three covers for each track. As the app is set up I have the option to a. have Art Import auto select the cover it likes best or b. apply an album cover from Sugar to all 3 songs.

Instead I would like to see a list of each song after the search is complete, be able to select the song and then choose which album cover to apply to each song. Sure, I could do the songs one at a time, but selecting one song after another after another in iTunes is a little time consuming do to having to re-click on iTunes to regain focus. This re-clicking adds up with a playlist of 20 imported songs.

Is that asking alot for such a minor issue? Perhaps, and if it is I apologize...I DO NOT want to detract from this app in any way.

2.) It looks the same to me. Can you show me what you mean? But I agree... the corners should match!

3.) Never too much to ask, but sometimes too much to do. But in this case, I have an idea that might work.

3.) Groovy. The feature doesnt have to be like mine, just so the albums can be chosen for multiple items is all. And honestly, the 3rd request is a minor request... missing a feature like this wouldn't be very noticable.

lol, well it looks like that on my machine, also on the side with the rounded corners you can still see the color that supposed to be transparent (the pink: 255 255 255). Anyway in the update we could pick between two sites for album photos. My suggestions would be Buy.com and Amazon.com. I know I posted eariler about mega-search.net, but I don't think it would be easy to incorporate that into your FREAKIN' AWESOME PROGRAM. Thanks again, I too like deadzombie have used this over and over.

Just one more thing if not already posted before, but can you make it minimize and resizable (cause sometimes I can't see the entire album name). Also is it possible to include a track listing of all ablums, because sometimes I do get the wrong album art and have to check on amazon.com just to be sure.

Puzzling... I'm wondering if it has to do with a Windows setting. You using Large Fonts or something like that? If anyone has an idea, I'm open to suggestions here. I'll keep searching for a fix.

I wish it were. But I don't know if there is a way to access their library and as compared to Amazon, they don't have nearly the selection.

I've got a pretty good list of things to get into the next release. I really appreciate all the great feedback!

Not bad. Although I did take a step or two backwards as I rewrote a couple things. Plus with one thing and another, I've not had a good chunk of time to just dive in and get it done.

But... I think that's about to change.
