[help] New Monitor

well what sort of monitor can $200 USD buy? i want it as a secondary monitor, preferably LCD for size. CRTs are cheaper though, and then there's size. i dont really know much about monitors nowadays, can yall help?

my uses for it are:

- to get rid of clutter when im surfing/multitasking IE windows/AIM/outlook/word so i want something that is readable (a maneagable DPI though i dont care about superclear precision, as my primary notebook monitor will be the gaming one)

- not for gaming AT ALL as i said

- i DO want to watch movies...maybe those motion artifacts will be a bad thing here...i dont know. i wont be doing gaming, so do i care about such artifacts?

what is a cheap solution?

I work at compusa and 200 bucks isnt going to get you much

lcd is out of the question they start around 300

your going to end up with like a kds or viewsonic 17" crt

200 bucks isn't really enough to get a large lcd (though i got my 17" lcd for 200 with free shipping--it was a really good deal). you might be able to get a 15" one, but it's much smaller.

200 bucks is more than enough for a crt.

well what do you suggest? a crt coudl work except that i live 300 miles away. and how did you get an lcdfor 200?

i got an hp 1702 lcd for 200 bucks free shipping because someone posted the link at neowin. it was a great deal, so i picked one up. i told all my friends, and apparently many people told theirs, so after a flood of orders, hp took it down.

wait taht made no sense. i live 1500 miles away for college than at home. i cant fly it....and shipping woudl be expensive. i can bring an LCD with me if i pack it correctly....so what do you suggest?

oh i see. well, i just got out of college, so i know what you mean, but moving a monitor around isn't the bad part. you'll have a lot more to move once you actually start accumulating material goods in college.

given your price range, i highly doubt you can afford an lcd. unless you increase your budget, you'll be stuck buying a crt.
