How Do I Add The Hard Drive Icons To My Desktop?

the hard drive .png files, how can i add these to the desktop, or other hard drive icons that look like aqua?

....You can't use the PNG's directly on your desktop, you need .ico's

Just do shortcuts of your HD's and change the icon.... I don't know where to get the icon files but try posting in the icon thread. Then when you want 'em BIG & NASTY like on the Mac you can search the forum for a registry patch that does this ( BE AWARE THOUGH...it will change the overall size of ALL your .ico's)

Hope that helped a bit

Drove your hard disk chart sign to the desktop to be allowed

Undertaker, Huh!?

What do you mean?

How is everyone adding large harddrive icons to the desktops? What are they using?

As Jon@z said, you need icons instead of PNG. PNG is just a graphic file, icons are files which contain the needed sizes of the graphic in order to display correctly. To show them bigger, you need to make a mod to your computer in order to display them bigger, the maximum number is 128x128. You might want to check my website http://i-cons.tk in the FAQ section for a tutorial on increasing the siez of your icons, note that this will increase the size of all icons, not only desktop ones. You can manage the szie of the icons on some parts of windows, but in others not, like the taskbar, unless you set small icons.

check my website for the tutorial, if you need further help, reply here and ill try to offer help.

good luck

Thanks, Ill try reading the tutorials at your site and see what I can do. Sounds like it will be harder than normal to just add large (like in dock) hard drives (png or ico) to my desktop.

actually, its easy to add an icon to the D-top. But if you want it to be 128x, I would say follow the tutorial on mmr's website.

I have tried the desktop icons at 128 but they were too big for me, but 64 seems to look great,, the only problem is that in the save or preview windows, the my documents/desktop/etc. buttons are too big,and the "My Computer" icon gets cut off, is there any way to fix this?

Download TweakUI fow windowsXP and there is a tab called explorer, then go to 'common dialogues' and then you can hide, show defaults or create your own custom places. :) -You can remove ones you don't want and put in ones you want. ;)

I'm not sure if there is a reg hack to change their size though... I'm pretty sure there isn't. :(

Hope that helps. :)

is 128x the size of OSX desktop icons?

#14864

If you choose for them to be that big. :)

It's not an 'osx standard' to have them that big. It all depends on the user and their resolution. :) If I had a huge res like 2048x1536 I would use 128x128 icons, I only use 1024x768 though. ;)

Cheers
