[release] Winshare Personal Web Server

I looked at the simplicity of the Personal Web Server feature in OS X and decided to create a Personal Web Server that could fit onto one floppy disc and could be transported anywhere but that was yet still powerful enough to host a website and/or share files. So here you have it WinShare 1.0, its not cram packed full of features (yet) or very pretty but it does its job and does it well. Please read the included Read Me file to find out more info.

Looks awesome dude :)

Sounds pretty cool, but I stick to IIS that came with XP Pro.

#180501

Ya again, this is no where near the capabilities of IIS or Apache Server but for quick uses i think it is perfect

okay...thanks. Disabled my FireWall, now does it work?

You can always run Apache off a Linux or FreeBSD LiveCD. You could also run thttpd off a floppy. It's a very complete web server, yet extremely small.

These are just some other options, since you dont really know the security of this server.

great app :woot:

The most likely reason for the server not being able to be seen from a remote client (i.e. someone besides yourself) is because of a firewall or router. You may need to disable your firewall (or just allow the server to access the internet) and/or go into your routers configuration utility (See your routers Manual for more info) and turn on port forwarding to your computer that will be hosting the server. You will need to open port 80 and 8080 for this to work (where 8080 is whatever you set your server port to). Hope this helps. If you need more help on a specific router's config feel free to IM me on AIM at MxMaster23 or PM me on AS Ill try to help.

:)

Im glad you guys like the app. And hey Contra, most people are not familiar with how to use a linux distro, much less get it to be able to be booted off of a floppy disc. Again this is not meant to host major sites just for quick and easy access. ;)

Like you could have it include an page with the my picture folder, a page with the miviedo foler, and also an upload and download of files from the server.
