Who The Hell Is Seph, Again?

Alright, Yes, I do admit I've left the board for a long while. Sorry.

But where exactly did this 'Seph' character come from? I mean, I don't have a problem with new faces or staff, but when I see smart-ass, cocky remarks, such as, "It's only logical...", I obviously don't think too highly of them. Whatever, fine and dandy. Did it affect me? Not until I looked at my signature.

Now, that's what pissed me off the most. That signature's been like that before Seph was even thought of on these boards. Just think, did I post 1000 posts a day to affect the board with a semi-large signature? No. Did it use board bandwidth to display the image? Well, if you consider remote hosting 'board bandwitdth', then I'd understand. ... and of all things, you have to advertise your name in my signature. Thanks for spamming the board, chump.

Now, I bet you're some 'Aqua-soft Board Savior', but think, everything you do isn't going to change the board for the better. It's not YOUR board. It's everyones. And not everyone likes your decisions. Just ask.

Bill, if your sig was bigger than 450x100 pixels, then Seph had a good reason too.

It's part of the new rules which mod's can abide by now (even though it's not offical until Timmie brings the new board online).

lets say this thread was about me, i would prefer it to stay so i knew how i could approach the members better. i believe seph would have the same approach (which is why ive left it). however since i cant be 100% sure of seph's reaction, i have given him the final decision.

provided seph removed your sig because it was larger than we allow (this is the only reason he would have removed it), all the staff here at AS will back him up. he left his name so you could see exactly who made the change and so you could dispute it with him later if you feel fit, its just a courtesy thing.

if u wanna know where seph came from feel free to continue this thread, however if your just gonna argue over a sig or ***** about seph, i will close it. :staffs here:

i think the biggest prob was that Bill misunderstood the reason daddy put his name when he changed bill's sig.

@ bill - all mods/admin do that so members would know who to talk to when they disagree with their action (like in ur case, the removal of the sig)

1. Seph is a great moderator. He does some slip-ups sometimes (I think I have only seen him stuff up tag's a few times or even forget to put them on, but that's general human error).

2. I suggest you read the New Rules for a proper explination of why Seph did what he did.

Bill, as has already been intimated by theunknown and some of the members, Seph is a hard working member of the staff, and has been incredibly dedicated to the community over his time both as a newsposter and as a moderator. There was, in fact, a time when Seph was the only active newsposter, and we still managed to have more news on the front page, in a more professional writing style, than many of the "big" customising news sites who have full teams of newsies trawling the web (okay, so we weren't exactly Slashdot or Neowin, but we probably had the same sorta volume, at Seph's peak, as, say, Winbeta or Bink, and all of our content was hand-written by Seph, not "syndicated").

As for smart-ass and cocky, I would tend to think that Seph never intended to come across that way - it's just a style of writing (which, I might add, I think he picked up from me >.< ) that's commonly used by people in arguments pertaining to logical conclusions (as opposed to illogical ones).

Finally, your signature - if Seph removed it, then it was too large. We don't remove signatures for the fun of it, we do it because we know it detriments the experience of other users. For example, I like to browse with a small window (800x600). If any sig "breaks" that window, I will remove it. On the whole, I don't have to, but there are occassions when I have. Seph was likely doing exactly this.

In short, Seph is possibly one of the most dedicated, hard working members of staff on this board, and very much deserves his place on the staff. I am yet to see an occassion where I disagree with Seph's decisions as a moderator (although his decisions as a deity often leave much to be desired <_< ), for no other reason than that he is good at what he does, as a mod.

I know he (or in fact any of the staff, aside from Timmeh) may not be original, 1337 Apple emulators, but we're passionate about the community, and we're staff because of that, and because we're dedicated. Since the "cull" last year, we're being much more selective with who becomes staff and who doesn't, and who stays and who doesn't - that way, we get to have the most passionate, dedicated staff we can, and people who don't have the time or inclination needn't feel guilty about what they are or aren't doing.

oh shutup. He was doing his job, and I don't care if you've been around here longer, he is staff, you're not. He put his name in your signature so you knew who did it, and could discuss it PRIVATELY if there was a problem.

Seph's not being cocky. He's offtopic too much IMO, but so are many members.

@Bill: As said, your sig was way to big and according to the new rules i removed and kindly noted you about it (notice there is nothing rude about my remark on your sig). As it has also been said before, i added my na,e there so you could tell straight away who did it and if you had anything against it or any comments regarding my modding, you could just PM me... guess that didnt ocurr to you.

I will only say one more thing. The fact that you have been here longer than i doesnt give you ANY right whatsoever to come and insult and degrade me publicly. If it happens again, consider yourself warned; as other staff members have said (tahnx theunknown) moderators decisions are final and staff bashing is NOT allowed.

I thank you too for taking things out of context. If i said i dont think its logical it is probably because it was not a logical thing to do. Please, before coming back from a very long period of inactivity, i recommend you take a look around and judge if i am a worthy enough mod for you to have and THEN... PM me about it.
