The color isn't dark enough/gradient isn't big enough (but oh well), and I only mimiced that one image...

You're actually better off in the long run to use #FFFFFF - it's more compressable than white, and, if you use it a lot in your files, will eat less bandwidth if you use gzip compression for HTTP transfers :P
