CD Stack 1.0

What is it?

A little application to alow you to put album art on your desktop! CD Stack allows you to drag mini albums around on your desktop and play the whole album with a simple click. Never again do you have to browse through a tedious list of mp3s, with CD Stack you can keep your favourite or most recent CD's close at hand. CD Stack also remembers the exact positions of where you placed your albums, so it is completely tailored to your needs.

CD Stack is very easy to use. If you have ripped CD's from windows media player or iTunes, simply browse to your My Music folder, drag an album in and hey prestro! CD Stack loads the necessary information .

Customize CD Stack anyway way you want. Organise Albums neatly in columns or all over the place.

Requirements:

Windows 98 onwards

Powdercleaner if you really want to keep the mem usage low

Technical info:

CD Stack searches for an image called folder.jpg, which is usually in the folder if you added album art to the song file, in the folder you drag onto it. It needs this image to exist in order to display the album art. Most CDs ripped from WMP include this art but some players do not. You may have to create the album image yourself.

By the way, to do pretty much anything in this app, its all in the right click menu. Just right click an album to see options

How to use:

Run CD Stack, a jewel case will popup on your desktop. Drag the album FOLDER with album art to the jewel case and voila the jewel case displays your album art.

To play the album, right click and goto "Play Album" you can close individual items or quit entirely ensuring that the next time you start CD Stack up it will remember your configuration.

An easy way to see if a folder contains album art is to switch to thumbnail view outside of the actual folder, it will be displayed ontop of the folder's icon.

Yeah its a long running prob we're trying to fix. For the meantime the best bet is to make Yz ignore it.

I'm getting an error every time I try to drag a folder onto CD Stack.....

I have tried various folders with different amounts of songs.

i don't think this app works easily with iTunes, as in iTunes, the album art is actually inside the song files themselves.

I can use with YzShadow (( It's look horible and my CPU (P4 2.6GHz) it's used 100% and become unstable and crush <_< any help?

BTW Nice work i like! Can you make the option when I select Play Album the .mp3 be selected in order from 1 to 10 and not 10, 5, 8, 1..

I dont like this program.

I tried it, but it don't work well with iTunes.

"Play Album" plays the first (alphabetically) song in the album, then resumes the rest of your Library.

Come on people, give Tig4 and Al some kudos too. It's a great concept, and yeah, there are some bugs, but they are doing it for free, remember. They don't have time to do a lot of testing on it.

This has a lot of potential to become a very widly used application. Keep the good work up, boys!

TiG4 and Al did a lot of work on this app and as with any other 1.0 release there are some bugs but this app is definatly working nicely and has good potential. And as Ave mentioned, they`re doing it for free so instead of complaining donate some cash and expect improvement in next version since these guys are following Grand-Master Ave's footsteps

So, I can do nothing to work CDStack & YzShadow together, but how can I do this: when I start my PC on my desktop to have the all albums?? I put a shortcut of CDStack.exe in my Startup folder.. but it's not work! What can I do??

make sure that when you put the CDStack in your startup folder that the config file (Stack.ini) is along with it in the same directory.

I make it work! It is a conflict between Y'z Shadow and CDStack :cry: I take out Y'zShadow from Startup and now all things are good but I dont understand why dont wan to work with Y'z Shadow :cry: :cry: :cry:

Ok, after reading that a few times I think I know what you mean. The app doesnt work with Yz shadow at the moment because of the way the windows are created and the dimensions of them, as Ive said earlier for the moment just make Yz shadow ignore this program.

No donations yet, we're working on another version but it may have ads in it. I still have bills to pay off, and this is the only way I can do it without donations.
