Redhat Vs Mandrake
Ok, just a simple update more related to this wonderful board.
Which of the two has a more OSX looks : not just themes, I mean GENERAL SHARPNESS and so on ?

They are the same....
Mandrake is based on red-hat
and they can use same themes.
Virtually, you can make all linux distributions physically identical by looking at the screenshot.
ALl linux's are technically the same.. its just how the distrubtor put it together.. like redhat may add some of there drivers for it.. maybe there own config tools.. but really all distro's and technically the same as kde or mandrake dont have a "specific" look.. as they all can look exactly the same... i could make a screenshot when youd think id be using redhat.. but i could be using mandrake .. hehe
but i havnt found any good aqua themes.. iv seen some nice ones like Liquid for the KDE GUI....www.kde-look.org

I used to run slackware, slackware and debian are both good for beginners
there are different distros, however between those 2 i would go for Redhat. I have both and Mandrake was my first linux experience, what I can tell is that Mandrake is more "friendly" in a way, but it turns to be a pain because it is not that good in organizations, it jut turns to be confusing and weird, since it offers like 2 or 3 applications to do the same, it has like 3 browsers, when you might just need mozilla.
Redhat, is more simpler and that might be one of the first distros you get to think about when you hear linux, I like it because it is organized, it offers 1 app for doing a job, but its the best one. Redhat is better organized when it comes to add or remove packages, thing that in Mandrake, you will get lost in the bunch of menus it has and with all of its options. Redhat has a new theme called bluecurve, which is way better than Mandrake theme.
I like both, but however I will go to Redhat 8, it is better, and to the point, there is no need to pointless bunch of app to make a job. There are others that some users claim to be the best, like slackware, or maybe debian, and they might, but between those 2, thats my opinion.
I think you should give a try to both, they are free, there is nothing you can loose, you just need to downlaod them.

Hmm im not sure what you meam mmr../.. iv always had mandrake have 1 app for 1 thing.. 3 browsers?.. unless you tell to install it in the package selection.. it doesnt really install any browsers except if you install kde then konqueer is like explorer but for kde and it is built in.. i alwso had to install mozilla seperatly.. i found that mandrake is pretty well organize in menu wise... iv only seen 1 tool for each job.. adding users.. control panel.. add/remove software... no duplicates really.. and all distros can have duplicates.. since browsers come with any distro on the cd by default... but i never used redhat and im sure its very nice.. just i found mandrake to be very organized in my opinion.. but its your opinion and i respect that

he doesn't mean the organization in the menus in KDE. lol
he means the organization of the OS itself. For example, you may not find config files for apps where they are usually in. or editing a config file by hand wrecks some stuff. etc. Something a linux user should try to prevent.

I agree.. Neither Manrake or Red Hat, Gentoo all da way.
lol, I do prefer Redhat anyways, it has a better appearance, and it is better for me. I repeat, try both, you wont loose money by doing so.

and the problem with recompiling is? 
btw.. I wouldn't consider slackware and debian distributions for beginers, just the installation process in any of them is complicated 
If you are new to linux go with red-hat if you know what you are doing get a real distribution (slackware) and stop playing around with toys (gentoo,red hat, mandrake, etc)
btw.. when I just younger and more bold I played around with m68k very nice distro... for Amiga computers... it is very nice getting your Amiga 500/1200 running linux!! this was like... 6 years ago... maybe 7. I also remember installing linux from a stack of floppys... slackware, good old times... when there was no better window manager that afterstep, waaaaayyyyy before kde or gnome. ok.. I'll shut up now
Try going to distrowatchFor more anwsers to ur questions, and try the reviews to learn more about each distro, and by the way who cares what distro U use , I did not know It makes me a better person to use a different distro.
