If you need true dos mode,.. bootup using a startup disk created in windows 98 or win95.

if you insert a boot disk before windows xp loading, I think you wont have access to see or edit NTFS, at least that is what happened to me. You might be able to see a FAT or FAT 32 file system, but not an NTFS.
